Fai un viaggio affascinante attraverso un tempio pagano sotterraneo e quattro imponenti chiese per capire le primissime fasi del cristianesimo. Ammira le reliquie originali della Crocifissione di Cristo e il suolo della Terra Santa. Itinerario
Godrai di un affascinante viaggio nel profondo della Basilica di San Clemente, a pochi metri dal Colosseo. Attraverserai tre strati di monumenti antichi costruiti uno sopra l'altro e scoprirai culti pagani dimenticati, cristianesimo primitivo e simbolismo mistico. Visiterai il Tempio di Mitra meglio conservato e toccherai il fiume sotterraneo che scorre sotto le strade di Roma e sotto il Colosseo. Ti meraviglierai di fronte agli antichi mosaici e alle storie che raccontano. Apprezzerai l'intimità di un piccolo gruppo di massimo 10 persone
Dopo aver appreso del paganesimo, delle prime persecuzioni e dei martiri, fare una passeggiata per la Cattedrale di Roma, la Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano, e scoprire perché è conosciuta come "Madre e capo di tutte le chiese sulla Terra". Lasciati impressionare dalla bellezza degli interni dorati e degli antichi affreschi e ascolta l'imperatore Costantino e perché ha legalizzato il cristianesimo nel 313.
Scopri la madre dell'Imperatrice, Sant'Elena, e il suo pellegrinaggio a Gerusalemme per recuperare i manufatti, salvaguardati dalla prima chiesa sotterranea in Terra Santa. Tra questi, vedi le scale sante, le scale originali del pretorio che Gesù salì a suo giudizio.
Infine, cammina verso la chiesa costruita con la terra portata dalla Terra Santa, la Basilica di Santa Croce a Gerusalemme e vedi le altre Sacre Reliquie messe in sicurezza da Elena, tra cui un chiodo della Crocifissione, la tavola di noce Ponzio Pilato mise anche sopra la croce come il legno della croce Gesù fu crocifisso. Vedi anche frammenti del muro della grotta della Natività a Betlemme e due spine della corona della Passione di Cristo.
Scegli di prolungare il tuo viaggio fino alla Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, dove splendidi mosaici e reliquie sacre offrono uno spaccato dell'importanza della chiesa nella storia cristiana.

This was a great tour for us and our guide was phenomenal! Unfortunately we weren’t able to see some of the expected relics due to an unforeseen incident but our guide made up for it by taking us to see other things that weren’t planned. We would highly recommend this tour!

Excellent Tour and Guide. Daniel spent a great deal of time telling us exceptional stories of the different things we were looking at and going to. He was very patient and answered all our questions as well. The tour took us through several locations, all with very unique things to see. I would highly recommend this tour and Daniel!

Booked through Viator, we met our guide (Francesca) at the start of the tour to find out it was just us on the tour (3pm Tuesday) so felt like a personal one ! One of the churches on the tour was undergoing extensive renovations so Francesca took us to see something else instead. Really interesting tour (especially the first church on a church on a church on a house) dating back to 1st century. Incredible mosaics, paintings and tapestries going back thousands of years, well preserved or restored. The tour included a huge baptismal font (full body immersion) and the first church in Rome. Francesca talked our way though everything and was very knowledgable, but without being boring (a risk with any group tour is people asking questions about things you don’t care about or the guide has already described). She kept the tour at a pace we were happy with and we managed to squeeze everything in within a couple of hours - perfect.
