Great views of the river, very good menu choice. We chose Ribs chips & salad, Very nice & tasty, good serving. T bone steak medium rare chips & salad, unfortunately the steak was more on the rare stage. Our waitress as if we wanted tomato sauce, yes please for my chips, unfortunately it never arrived. We ordered a bottle of rose, she brought it with two champagne glasses, luckily the lady who came to open the wine asked her to get two wine glasses, they came but with droplets 0f water inside??? Dessert was a choc orange mouse, more like a small slice of cake with a cream mixture on top. Also a carrot cake, good size serving but dry.
Great location average service and average food. The place is fabulous and the staff is very nice but service is slow and the food is average.
They view and venue is fantastic but do not have the steak as it is the worst I have had in years. It was all grissle and should never have been served. The staff took ages to get drinks and basically not available.
Great place for lunch or dinner. Service a little slow but food good and view fantastic — a spacious place with options to sit under cover or on a lower deck
Perfect place for lunch or coffee when visiting Vic Falls. The view is fantastic and the menu has lots of good choices. Service is quick and efficient. They also have a beautiful little shop and art gallery!
As soon as we walked in, there was at least 20 empty tables and the waiter who met us at the door said they were all reserved and that we had to go down to this open area where the sun was blazing and it was super hot and it was basically open seating. We sat there and I asked the waiter and he said we could move upstairs so we went up there. We couldn’t sit right at the edge because apparently those were reserved and they sat us like in an insight table without a view. we sat there for about an hour and a half and those 20 tables sat empty and when I asked what time did the reservations get there the same waiter who was rude to us said he didn’t know but they were reserved and they would get there when they got there. The food was terrible were basically there for the view which was really nice. It would’ve been better if we would’ve had a view where we sat that’s the whole point of going to that restaurant. The staff needs a lesson in hospitality. Coming from Cape Town to Zimbabwe, It was so disappointing. Hospitality is not there. Don’t expect much. Staff is rude I saw that same waiter who told us the table was reserved. Try to scam a family who was paying cash when he swapped out a $20 bill and put a $10 bill in the receipt sleeve. He tried to convince the family that they gave him a 10 and not a 20. Thank goodness that family just ignored him and walked out. So they need a lesson in hospitality and beware if you’re paying in cash.
The view is amazing! The food and service were awesome. My only complaint would be the amount of tourists allowed to just walk into the restaurant without reservations and come disturb your view or crowd the table. It was a bit frustrating to be eating your meal while random people came around your table and took pictures.
Wow! Wow what an amazing place to indulge in out of this world views and exquisite cuisine. I highly recommend the “Pepper crusted rump steak” w brandy cream sauce. Our server; Admire was extremely attentive and personal. We throughly enjoyed our experience. Thanks so much Admire for your attentiveness🤗
The food at the Look Out Café was perhaps the only disappointing aspect of our trip. For a group of five, not a single person enjoyed the meal. We ordered butternut soup, which tasted more like ginger soup with just a hint of butternut. One of the soups was swapped for the beef strips starter, but it was inedible. The sticky ribs, touted as a favorite, were a letdown, tasting overwhelmingly of ginger and lacking any stickiness. Even the fries were underwhelming. We ordered chicken strips for the kids, but what we received were chicken balls topped with caramelized onions, despite our request for no garnish since they were for children. The texture of the chicken was akin to corned meat and not enjoyable at all. To make matters worse, my glass had lip marks on it. When I mentioned this to our waiter, he said it was because the glass had been stored in the fridge—perhaps he meant a "lip fridge"? The only redeeming quality was the stunning view, but since we dined at night, it was completely dark, leaving us with no positives to speak of. On the bright side, the chef did come over to discuss our complaints about the ginger, explaining that "ginger has health benefits." However, I would suggest they indicate on the menu that they use a significant amount of ginger in their dishes. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant.
Dear Esteemed Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your recent visit to the Lookout Café. We truly value all guest comments—both positive and constructive—as they help us to improve and provide the best possible experience. We’re sincerely sorry to hear that your meal did not meet your expectations and that several aspects of your dining experience were disappointing. Please accept our apologies for the issues you encountered with the food preparation and presentation, as well as the oversight with the glassware. These are certainly not the standards we strive to uphold, and we will be addressing your concerns with our kitchen and service teams to ensure such incidents are not repeated. We appreciate your comments about the use of ginger in certain dishes and take your suggestion about clearly indicating this on the menu seriously. It's also helpful to know about the misunderstanding regarding the children's order—thank you for pointing this out. While we’re glad the chef made the effort to engage with you directly, we regret that your overall experience was not a positive one. We hope you might consider giving us another opportunity in the future during daylight hours, when the panoramic views truly shine and add to the ambiance we are so proud of. Thank you once again for your feedback. It helps us grow and serve our guests better. Warm regards,
