St Nicholas Market, hidden treasures……

As a Bristolian I just had no idea that this was here and that it must’ve been dreadfully claustrophobic holding some 200 people in the dark times of war. Definitely worth seeing and Owen made it an adventure and that’s exactly what you want. Informative, fun and interesting.

Worth a look

Todays tour with Eoin was very enjoyable and informative. He didn't overdo the details but gave a good insight into the Bristol air raid shelters and the memorabilia which was on display. His enthusiasm was what made the tour most enjoyable and the gramaphone music was a lovely nostalgic touch.

Great afternoon, throughly recommend a visit .

Our guide, Owen, was really friendly, entertaining and informative. The tour was really good, we've lived in Bristol all our lives and learnt a lot today! The air raid shelter under St Nicolas market was very thought provoking. Owen said they are in the process of setting up a museum there, will definitely go back to see that ! Worth a visit at very reasonable prices .

Really good way to while away an hour or so.

This was informative, interesting and something different to do in the city. The guide was very knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the tour and the history. I also really liked how he communicated positively with a child on our tour who asked lots of questions , not always at the most convenient times for the guide. Really well done. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Thankyou

Excellent tour – even if you think you know Bristol!

We did the Air Raid Shelter and St Nicholas Market Walking Tour today and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. The two hours absolutely flew by. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging and clearly passionate about Bristol’s history. They struck the perfect balance between historical facts, fascinating stories and humour, making the tour enjoyable from start to finish. It wasn’t just a walk around the city – it really brought Bristol’s past to life. The highlight was undoubtedly the underground air raid shelter beneath the Corn Exchange. Having the opportunity to explore a part of Bristol that is normally inaccessible was a real privilege, and seeing the wartime artefacts helped put everything into context. It was both fascinating and thought-provoking. Even as someone familiar with Bristol, I learned so much about the city’s history, from its medieval origins through to the Blitz and beyond. The visit to St Nicholas Market added another dimension to the experience and showcased one of Bristol’s most iconic locations. This tour is excellent value for money and I’d highly recommend it to both visitors and locals. Whether you’re interested in history or simply looking for something different to do in Bristol, this is an experience not to be missed. A well-deserved five stars!

Fascinating exploration of Bristol’s past

A very knowledgeable, dynamic and engaging guide who presented the history of Bristol with interesting anecdotes and nice touches of humour. The WW2 shelter was fascinating. It would have been nice to have a few minutes’ pause to look at the artefacts more closely, wander and take in the atmosphere before the tour resumed. Overall, I was very impressed and glad I came.

Highly recommended tour

We had Theresa as our guide and she was amazing. She was incredibly enthusiastic and was able to impart a wealth of information about the air raid shelter, World War 2 and Bristol in general. This tour really brought the air raid shelter and I wish the company well with obtaining more historical artifacts.
