ll Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli offre una delle collezioni archeologiche più ricche e complete in Italia e in Europa. Imperdibili sono le collezioni vesuviane e la collezione Farnese. La prima ospita una ricca collezione di reperti unici di vario tipo (da mosaici ad affreschi, sculture, oggetti di vita quotidiana), rinvenuti negli scavi delle città sepolte dall'eruzione del Vesuvio del 79 d.C. , ovvero Pompei, Ercolano, Oplontis e Stabiae. La collezione Farnese è invece la più importante fra le raccolte rinascimentali italiane di antichità, ereditata nel '700 dalla famiglia dei Borbone di Napoli e unica per le sue sculture quali ad esempio: il celebre " Toro Farnese" o l' "Ercole Farnese. Imperdibile è poi la "Tazza Farnese", la più grande gemma incisa giunta dall’antichità.

Our Guide had an incredible in-depth knowledge. He brought the exhibitions to life and made sure we knew of the main highlights of the museum. Without his knowledge and guidance we would have missed so much! This was an excellent tour and would totally recommend it.

Our guide Martina did an expert job of leading us through this very large museum & provided so many historical details & stories. We would have wandered aimlessly without her. Going here before visiting Herculaneum & Pompei really helped prepare us for our visit there.
