The guide was not only knowledgable about the trail options, but took the time to help us find the hike that best met our ability and comfort level. He was professional, safety-minded, and friendly. Went out of his way to provide extra information and even took us to a special lookout location after our walk. He answered some questions about Nun’s Valley for us, and realizing our interest in that area, he offered to add that on to our tour (extra cost). His efforts to keep us safe, give us an experience we wanted, and make sure we had an amazing tour were noticed and appreciated! Highly recommend!
The private guided 25 Fontes tour with Pearl of the Atlantic was truly amazing. On time pick up at our rental. Informative and friendly guide. The hike was approximately 8.5 km total with breathtaking views. Completely doable for people of all ages and physical ability. The most challenging part were the stairs on the loop back but you can pause half way up if needed. Reaching the 25 Fountain area, you see a truly magical sight. Would highly recommend. We did this hike in late January so we did not have many crowds.

We chose the Duarte guide because it was recommended to us by friends who visited the island last year. We already had the best references from the Lord but the man really manages to exceed the best expectations. Professionalism…knowledge…availability…kindness…make the guide a TOP professional. Thank you Mr Duarte for giving us the best vacation ever.
We booked two tours with the company. Ponta de Sao Lourenco on August 31st and Levada 25 Fontes on September 1st 2023. The first tour was really great. The guide was pontual, had a lot of information, suggested a nice boat ride at the end of the tour, it was a nice day. The 25 Fontes tour was scheduled for 8 am. At 7:45 the same guide sent us a message saying that he had car problems and the tour was canceled. No apologies, no assistance, nothing. I understand that accidents happen, but he could have suggested another company to us, other colleague of him could have helped us to find other option for the day, but nothing was done. The impression was that we did not matter at all. When you are on an Island, that is not cheap or easy to get to, that you have no idea if or when you are ever going back to, losing a day like this is frustrating. Luckily, the hotel staff (who were also shocked at what happened and how the company dealt with the problem) helped us finding other options and we ended up having an amazing day. Unfortunately, I would not recommend their services, specially now considering that I just saw another review on google saying that they did the same thing (cancelling on short notice and giving no assistance at all).
Bom dia, Senhor Rafael. Antes de mais agradeço a sua avaliação, bem como sua escolha pela nossa empresa. Como diz e bem, fez duas reservas...mas só uma foi realizada. A atividade realizada, vereda da Ponta de São Lourenço, com o guia Francisco, que segundo diz foi excelente...tudo correu bem. Ficamos muito felizes quando isso sucede, porque esse é o objetivo da empresa...satisfazer ao máximo os seus clientes. Na segunda parte da avaliação...melhor na atividade que não foi realizada, lamento toda a situação, que a avaria do carro pessoal do guia Francisco tenha causado. Infelizmente, não tínhamos outros guias disponíveis...diz que poderíamos indicar outra empresa...é verdade...mas imagine se a atividade não tivesse corrido do seu agrado...perderia o dinheiro...o dia...e a responsabilidade seria nossa, porque fomos nós que sugerimos! Esta enganado quando pensa que para nós você não é importante...você e todos os outros clientes são a razão da nossa existência...por isso, quando o responsável máximo da empresa teve conhecimento do sucedido envio-lhe mensagem para o seu telemóvel pessoal... Claro que o guia Francisco, poderia e deveria ter resolvido a situação de outra forma, informando o responsável da empresa da avaria do carro (pessoal) durante a deslocação para a empresa, onde posteriormente ia buscar o carro de trabalho...Francisco ao não informar a empresa como poderíamos ter agido? E para que não pense que para nós você não é importante...a atitude de Francisco (não informou o responsável máximo da empresa da avaria do seu carro) custou-lhe o seu despedimento. Relativamente ao seu último parágrafo, você foi muito infeliz...está a comentar uma avaliação de um outro cliente na página do google...de uma atividade que foi reservada na página do tripadvisor, mas que não foi aceite por overbooking...aqui ninguém falhou...aliás só falhou o cliente que deixou um comentário fraudulento no google...e você sem saber de nada comentou uma fraude... Excellent experience in nature with very informative guide. Very beautiful landscapes on a wonderful island.
I had a great time on my guided hike with Francisco. This was my first time to Madeira and I was traveling solo and a bit nervous to explore by myself. Francisco was welcoming, helpful and kind. He told me about the history of Madeira and we laughed a lot. It felt like traveling with a friend rather than a guide.
My friend and I did this tour with Andre (guide) and Duarte (driver) at the beginning of April 2023. We chose to do the "easier" version where you walk through the 800 m tunnel at the beginning and the end. Andre was enthusiastic, friendly and knowledgeable providing us with a variety of facts about Madeira and its fauna and flora. Levada 25 Fontes is the most famous levada in Madeira and thus the most popular. Fortunately we were visiting Madeira during low season and while it was busy at times requiring us to take turns with oncoming people on the narrow paths, we can only imagine the number of people on the hike during summertime. While you will still be sharing the path with others, it is still nice to have a private guide if you are able to pay the additional cost. The cost with this company (even airport transfers) was much less than the other companies that we looked at.
