La cattedrale fu costruita per sostituire la chiesa di San Giovanni, che era diventata troppo piccola per la crescente comunità europea di Calcutta; nel 1810 c'erano 4.000 uomini britannici e 300 donne britanniche nel Bengala.
Per prima cosa ti porteremo a visitare la casa di Madre Teresa per vedere la sua tomba e poi a Nirmal Hriday, il luogo in cui Madre Teresa aveva vissuto con le sue sorelle per servire i popoli.
Il Museo indiano di Calcutta, noto anche come il Museo Imperiale di Calcutta nei testi di epoca coloniale, è il nono museo più antico del mondo e il più grande museo in India e ha rare collezioni di oggetti d'antiquariato, armature e ornamenti, fossili, scheletri, mummie e dipinti di Mughal del 1600 d.C.
E poi ti porterà a visitare il maestoso Victoria Memorial; una struttura in marmo costruita in memoria della regina Vittoria. È una miscela di architettura Mughal e britannica. Attualmente è un museo che espone dipinti, miniature, statue e libri, attraverso i quali le persone possono acquisire una conoscenza approfondita della storia indiana.
Distribuito su 44 katha di terra, questo tempio costruito con orsi di marmo bianco ricorda il famoso tempio Lingaraj di Bhubaneswar. Birla Mandir mette anche in mostra la rappresentazione pittorica delle scritture della Bhagavad Gita nelle sue incisioni su pietra e alcune intricate architetture del tempio del Rajasthan.
Il tempio di Kalighat Kali è un tempio indù a Kalighat, Calcutta, nel Bengala Occidentale, in India, dedicato alla dea indù Kali. È uno dei 51 Shakti Peethas. Kalighat era un Ghat sacro a Kali sul vecchio corso del fiume Hooghly nella città di Calcutta.
Prinsep Ghats è un ghat incorporato nel 1841 durante il British Raj, lungo la riva di Calcutta del fiume Hooghly in India. Il portico palladiano in memoria dell'eminente studioso anglo-indiano e antiquario James Prinsep fu progettato da W. Fitzgerald e costruito nel 1843.

I do not know if I have seen such passion and love for a city as I have experienced from Subrata! He shared Kolkota with me and I have a very enjoyable day! He was very knowledgeable and professional. We visited all the spots and made nice photos while discussing history and culture. I absolutely recommend this tour.

Good guide and driver but itinerary timings were somewhat poor. This meant we had to queue for at least half an hour in the heat to get into the National Museum and the Birla Temple was closed when we arrived. In addition the lunch venue was a forlorn empty restaurant lacking any atmosphere - not really up to standard. Otherwise a full and interesting day.
Kolkata tour was amazing. Our guide, Subrata Bunik,was everything you want in a guide. Local knowledge, kind, excellent English, enjoyable to travel around the wonders of Kolkata.

I would highly recommend this tour. I was picked by at the hotel and taken around many great sights in Kolkata. My guide Chandrayee was knowledgeable and gave you great insights into this amazing city. You could do the sights yourself but I would say having a good guide gives you a better depth of experience. I wanted to do more of an immersive experience at the Kalighat temple and this was accommodated. Please don’t hesitate to book this tour.
