Itinerario
Dopo aver guidato per circa un'ora e mezza (gli orari dipendono dalla posizione dell'hotel). In questa prima tappa vi parlerò del susseguirsi degli eventi che portarono la Francia all'occupazione nazista nel 1940. Parleremo poi delle operazioni di pianificazione e preparazione per lo sbarco del 6 giugno 1944 e infine delle gesta dei 225 uomini del secondo battaglione ranger del colonnello Rudder.
Ci fermeremo nel cuore di Omaha Beach a Saint-Laurent sur mer, dove potrai scattare qualche foto e ti suggerirò alcuni ristoranti per poter pranzare velocemente prima di dirigerci alla nostra prossima tappa.
Il cimitero americano di Colleville sur mer è il sito più visitato delle spiagge dello sbarco. Ci fermeremo a vedere, se lo vorrete, un cortometraggio che rende omaggio ad alcuni soldati morti in combattimento durante la Battaglia di Normandia. In questa località sarà anche possibile visitare un piccolo museo commemorativo. Cammineremo poi con rispetto tra le 9387 tombe degli eroi morti per liberare l'Europa.
A Longues-sur-Mer possiamo fermarci a vedere le cascate che ospitano ancora i cannoni da 155 mm che facevano parte del famoso Vallo Atlantico installato in Europa dai nazisti a partire dal 1942.
Ci fermeremo ad Arromanches les Bains per vedere i resti del porto artificiale installato dagli alleati nei primi giorni dell'assalto. Anche qui vi spiegherò la progettazione e l'installazione di questo gigantesco sito necessario per rifornire l'esercito alleato.
Se lo desiderate, ritorneremo al vostro albergo lungo le spiagge dello sbarco nel settore orientale dell'assalto e potremo così attraversare il ponte di Benouville, ribattezzato ponte Pegasus in onore di un commando della sesta divisione aviotrasportata britannica che si impadronì eroicamente del sito nella notte tra il 5 e il 6 giugno 1944. Ritorneremo quindi al tuo hotel.

We had an amazing tour with Quentin. He arrived on time and we went from there! He was so knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our questions. He toured us around and gave us ample time to explore. His video helped set the tone for the whole day. It was truly a moving experience that I will forever remember.

Gilles is a very knowledgeable and professional tour guide, that we highly recommend for tours of the Le Havre and Normandy area. His knowledge of the World Wars is outstanding, and he shared information in a very easily understood way. Our party of six was unanimous in our appreciation for a tour well done. His English was excellent, his car was first class, and he was onetime and delivered the tour just as promised. We've enjoyed several excellent private tours but this tour was by far one of the best.

Gilles and his team were absolutely amazing!!!! We had 8 people total and two very comfortable, clean, well stocked cars (food and beverages), that made our trip from the cruise port to Normandy very relaxing. Along the way, Gilles told us about the history leading up to the Normandy invasion which was so very informative, even as a HS History teacher myself! The other car was able to hear all the info as well due to his communication set up…it was wonderful!!! We stopped at the Point du Hoc first and received his guided tour along the way! After that, he arranged lunch for our group that was super delicious! Next stop was Omaha Beach, then the cemetery, the Mulberry Harbors and the Atlantic Wall, finishing off with the gun emplacements!!!! It was absolutely an amazing day!!!! I can’t tell you how highly I recommend this tour!!!! All 8 people in our group agreed that this was their favorite tour on our 2 week British Isle cruise!!!

Gilles is amazing. What a great person! Our train trip to Caen had an unexpected incident on the track which caused us to have to go back to LeHavre. He drove there and picked us up. He brought croissant for the whole family. He had a smile on his face and truly enjoyed the day with us. Very accommodating, very friendly. I would not tour with anyone else after this! Trusted with my whole family including a 10 year old and he did not disappoint! Cannot say enough nice things about the tour and how informative and fun it was. I got to go inside a German Gun emplacement and stand on the actual beach where it happened and look toward the shore. Bucket list items get checked off here. Life changing! Merci Gilles!

Our guide was Gilles and he was phenomenal! A very intelligent, friendly and caring person. He provided us with so much historical facts and information during our entire excursion.
