Inizieremo la nostra esperienza di apprendimento e scoperta presso l'iconico Faro di Barra, situato nel Forte di Santo Antônio, dove cammineremo per il luogo scattando splendide foto e godendoci la brezza. Questo è l'ingresso della Baia di Tutti i Santi.
È qui che il portoghese Thomé de Souza ha fondato Salvador! La spiaggia più democratica della città, acque calde e calme, dove trovi tutti i tipi di persone. Consiglio vivamente di trascorrere una mattinata o di tornare durante il tramonto.

Luogo iconico con edifici interessanti
La Cattedrale è considerata una delle chiese più importanti del Brasile ed è stato il quarto tempio realizzato dai gesuiti a Salvador nel XVII secolo e possiede una magnifica collezione di arte sacra.
Eccoci in cima alla collina, dove fu costruita la prima capitale del Brasile. In questa piazza abbiamo il famoso Ascensore Lacerda dell'800 che collega Città Bassa e Città Alta. Palazzo del Rio Branco che fu la sede del primo Governatore del Brasile, Thomé de Souza, il Municipio e la Casa de Camara dove tuttora opera l'amministrazione municipale. Inizieremo a esplorare a piedi il centro storico Pelourinho, visitando la cattedrale e il convento e la chiesa di San Francesco d'Assisi. Abbiamo tempo per lo street food o per un ristorante. Questa è l'occasione per interagire con la gente del posto immergendosi nella nostra vita quotidiana.
Costruita all'inizio del XVIII secolo, la Chiesa e Convento di São Francisco è una delle sette meraviglie di origine portoghese nel mondo. Bellissime piastrelle e legno di jacaranda oltre a un sacco di oro e dipinti di artisti locali fanno parte di questo eccezionale complesso.
La famosa piazza dove oggi si trova la Fondazione Casa Jorge Amado, uno dei miei scrittori preferiti e anche dove Michael Jackson ha eseguito con Olodum la canzone "A loro non importa davvero di noi"

Highly recommend this private tour with Gabriela. She showed us the favorite haunts of locals and even took us to the best ice cream shop. She was very knowledgeable about the local history as we walked Pelirunho area. She was especially attentive to our needs as one of our party was unwell.

Gabriela is a great ambassador for Salvador de Bahia. I learned about the fascinating history of Salvador and the festivals. My 15 year old and I spent a wonderful day together with Gabi. Gabi showed us many interesting parts of Salvador and taught us about the history and culture. She made it interesting for a teenager too! There was some walking but a lot was by car. I highly recommend Gabi for a tour in Salvador!

City sights by car & walking.. just a shame the public buildings were covered in boarding due to carnival! Recommended

Gabriela met us near the cruise ship at about 8:15am and from there, we had a lovely 6 hour tour of the city, with a lunch stop, (our expense) in the touristy, (but a must see), area of upper old town. Gabriela’s English is excellent and her knowledge of the city is superb. Although there are countless churches in Salvador, we limited our visits to the Bonfim Basilica. Had we seen more, the tour would have extended another hour. Book this tour without concern. It’s massively better value than any cruise ship excursion.

We loved touring Sqlvador with Gabriella. We booked an all day tour that started at 10 am from our hotel. She took us around the city’s most significant neighborhood by car and on foot. She knows the local history real well and she clearly loves telling others about it. Gabriella who is originally from Argentina also speaks very good English which we found was rare in the north east. We highly recommend her!
