There is a lot to love about this tour. The first portion is walking through part of the farm while learning about its history and everything that’s being grown on the farm, notably cocoa and coffee. The second half you get to taste both the Kona coffee they make on the farm as well as the chocolate they make with their cocoa beans. The coffee was great and the chocolate samples were delicious. We wrapped with a soap making demonstration for soaps they make onsite and that was very interesting as well. Our tour guide Greg was such a nice guy and so funny. I recommend taking this tour
Greg, the tour guide and owner was absolutely fantastic! He continuously demonstrated a passion for growing both coffee and cacao trees. He was both knowledgeable and entertaining. I previously did a chocolate tour on Maui. This tour presented a much broader scope of information. Tour goers learn about growing and harvesting coffee and cacao trees, how the coffee and cacao beans/pods are processed, and how to make soap. It was a most enjoyable tour for our group of four, ranging in age from 35-69 years. The location was a bit difficult to find as my iPhone led us to a different location. Have the address of this farm handy and watch the addresses on the mailboxes you will pass along the road - that will help you find the right location. Everyone in my group highly recommends this tour.
Greg and Paul were awesome guides! Greg knows a lot about the various plants and made the experience very entertaining as well as informative. Would highly recommend and am even thinking about going back tomorrow!
We thoroughly enjoyed the Kona Chocolate, Coffee, and Soap Tour. The most valuable part of the experience was learning how each product is made and hearing the story behind the farm. The guides did an excellent job explaining the coffee-growing process, chocolate production, and especially the soap-making process, which was fascinating and something we knew very little about before the tour.
We all enjoyed our tour and tasting. Greg and gang did a fabulous job sharing their knowledge of coffee and cocoa farming with emphasis on biodiversity (and chickens!) to keep the plants healthy and productive. Focus on natural farming and natural ingredients in the chocolate and soap was evident. Both the chocolate and coffee were tasty! Greg had a fun personality, was entertaining, and open to all kinds of questions. This was a very enjoyable learning experience.
While staying on the big island, we wanted to visit a farm and I’m so glad that we picked Greg‘s coffee and cocoa farm. Not only were the coffee and chocolate amazing but he also makes soap there and we got to learn all about that process as well. And we had the opportunity to buy some quality products at the end. My daughter credits their kukui oil with lavender for healing her dermatitis :) Greg and the entire team were so welcoming and helpful. We had an issue the day our tour was booked and had to move it at the last minute and Marty was so helpful and accommodating. If I had one thing to suggest for improvement, I would say to serve some sort of local biscuit or cookie with the coffee. I heard it mentioned that the cookies came from a chai store and it would’ve made the experience perfect had we got a cookie made from a local baker. There are plenty of good ones on the island.
Incredible experience. The best part of the tour 100% was the staff. They had such a strong passion for their craft and they described each aspect of their farm with so much joy and enthusiasm it made the experience that much more interesting and enjoyable. These are people who truly love what they do and because of that they make each interaction with each new group feel special. Whether they’re telling you about the history of coffee and chocolate in hawaii, or showing you the wonderful soap making process on their farm, each thing is met with amazing energy and excitement you can’t help but be incredibly invested in the experience. Overall this tour is one of the best things i’ve done on this island and i feel it was completely worth it.
The experience was very informative. There was minimal walking which was great as we had a person with a disability in our party. All the items we sampled were both delicious and great. We sampled coffee and chocolate. We also had a lesson in soap that is vegan. We learned a lot. It was a great time.
We enjoyed visiting the farm and learning how coffee and chocolate are made. The coffee and chocolate samples were delicious, Greg was a great guide and the soap making demonstration was very informative.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Greg was so welcoming, knowledgeable, and always kept us laughing. From the walk in the orchard to the cacao demonstration everything was top notch. We walked away with a wealth of knowledge and some amazing Kona soap.
