Passeggia per Fort Williams Park, sede del Portland Head Light! Uno dei fari più fotografati al mondo! Con passeggiate sulla scogliera, memoriali e panorami mozzafiato, potrai scattare foto, visitare il museo/negozio di articoli da regalo del faro "maggio-settembre" e anche prendere un boccone/trattamento in alcuni dei camion di cibo del parco, involtini di aragosta, zuppa di pesce , gelato, torte whoopie!
Spring Point Ledge Light parcheggeremo e ci fermeremo per 10 minuti. Qui la tua guida illustrerà l'importanza di questo faro che si trova su un frangiflutti di granito di 900 piedi, le installazioni militari dell'inizio del 1800 nella zona e le viste panoramiche delle nostre isole costiere di Casco Bay! Qui al Portland Breakwater Light, noto come "Bug Light" per la gente del posto, ti verranno concessi 20 minuti per visitare uno dei più piccoli fari del Maine ancora in servizio. Con le bellissime colonne corinzie greche, questo faro è situato su un frangiflutti molto più corto/più sicuro dove potrai uscire e goderti una vista mozzafiato sul lungomare di Portland!
Mentre finiamo il nostro tour, attraversiamo Commercial Street, avrai uno scorcio di uno degli ultimi lungomare funzionanti del Nord America. Questo tratto iconico nel quartiere Old Port di Portland presenta strade di ciottoli, moli di pesca del XIX secolo e moli vivaci ancora utilizzati dai pescatori di aragoste e locali. Vedrai anche un vivace mix di boutique, ristoranti e pub, tutti situati all'interno di alcuni dei più antichi edifici in mattoni / granito della città.

Brief overview of 3 lighthouses, beer tasting before/after the tour. The guide was really good sharing experiences, history, and tidbits. At the first lighthouse and park, we had lobster rolls from one of the food trucks. Out of this world good! There was a ton of lobster meat in the roll and the roll was a nicely buttered and toasted bread (not a hot dog roll). A great experience so that we know where to go back to and take time at the Rosie-the-Riveter exhibit.
Eric is very knowledgeable and passionate about Portland! This was a perfect 2ish hour tour to view the lighthouses and learn the history. Would highly recommend!

Eric was great! He knew a lot about the history of Portland, and previously working with his father, now a retired commercial lobsterman, he had a vast knowledge to share of that industry as well. We enjoyed our tour very much and fit the bill for our love of lighthouses.
