Il Giardino Botanico, formalmente noto come Sir Seewoosagur Botanic Garden, è una delle attrazioni più visitate di Mauritius. Il giardino si trova in prossimità di Port-Louis, nel quartiere di Pamplemousses. Il giardino botanico è stato inizialmente aperto come giardino privato dal governatore francese di Mauritius quasi 300 anni fa, per poi diventare il National Botanical Garden of Mauritius. Il giardino botanico si estende su infiniti acri di terra e potrebbe volerci più di una settimana per coprire l'intero giardino. È popolato da più di 650 varietà di piante tra cui i famosi Baobab, il Palmier Bouteille, le ineluttabili Ninfee giganti, decine di piante medicinali, un grande giardino delle spezie e molte altre ancora. Una delle principali attrazioni del giardino botanico sono le 85 diverse varietà di palme portate da diversi angoli del mondo. Qui sono esposte anche altre specie autoctone di piante.
Port Louis, la capitale cosmopolita di Mauritius, fu fondata nel 1735 dal governatore e pioniere francese Bertrand-François Mahé de La Bourdonnais. Situato sulla costa nord-occidentale, Port Louis è la capitale amministrativa e commerciale dell'isola. Brulicante di attività durante il giorno, la città è piena di tesori culturali e storici da non perdere. Oltre al mercato centrale, che è un punto focale per coloro che vogliono sentirsi vicini all'anima di Mauritius, ci sono molti siti storici tra cui il Champ de Mars - il più antico percorso di gara nell'emisfero meridionale.

Lo storico forte della cittadella si trova a circa 100 metri di altezza sulla collina di Petite Montague ed è diventato una delle attrazioni storiche di Mauritius. Il Forte, noto anche come Forte di Adelaide (dal nome della moglie di Guglielmo II, quando gli inglesi detenevano la terra a Port Louis), offre viste mozzafiato sull'intera città di Port Louis e sul porto. Il forte fu costruito all'inizio del XIX secolo dal colonnello Cunningham come tentativo di proteggere l'esercito britannico dal nemico. È costruito in stile moresco, completo di archi a ferro di cavallo. Il forte è stato costruito utilizzando grandi blocchi rettangolari. Il Forte è stato ora convertito in Monumento Nazionale ed è circondato dal Caudan Water Front e dal vasto Oceano Indiano.

We spent our holiday as a family of five at the Beachcomber Cannoniere Mauritius. We booked for this excursion Rajesh Seewoopaul Rajesh.991@hotmail.com Spoke a great English, very informative. Took time for everything, knew the best places to exchange money. The family felt well looked after around. The car was very comfortable and space adequate for us as well. DANKE RAJESH!!!!
Good tour , made great by our guide/driver veet , who was very new to role but took us to extra sites . Poor fella had an accident , which was not his fault , on way back , which meant we didn’t get back until much later than planned . Just hope he gets it all sorted
The Botanical Garden was a super experience, highly recommended to stay 2 hours at least. Unfortunately Fort Adelaide was closed due to a public holiday as well es the Blue Penny Museum. Our Guide, Hansley brought us to a tea museum which was not on the program and was really interesting.

Driver was on time and very friend. Car was clean inside and out. The driver was very knowledgeable about his local area and the country he lives in.

This tour was OK. I would have liked a slower walk-through umbrella sq and Port Louis so I could take pictures. Markets were interesting. Recommend paying the extra to have a tour guide in the botanical gardens. Lunch was ok. 'Pin Location' means 'address' not that the tour guide used it.

Fantastic day sightseeing, our driver and guide, Vinoo, was very knowledgeable and friendly. He went above and beyond to ensure that we got the most out of the day and couldn’t recommend him highly enough! He showed us around the capital, and allowed us time to do some shopping in the local and craft markets. The views from Fort Adelaide were breathtaking across the capital towards the Indian Ocean. The Botanical Gardens were very pretty with the added bonus of giant tortoises. We also had the lunch option which was delicious.
We didn't do this full day tour but we went to the Botanical Gardens at Pamplemousses on our own. Very disappointing I'm afraid. A general down at heel feel to the place. Plants and trees either not labelled or inadequately. The fine colonial house is closed and there are no proper facilities for visitors. Even the tortoises look depressed and kept in poor conditions compared to the La Vanille reserve in the south of the island.

A morning to see a small part of the island . The Botanical gardens were good to see and worth getting a guide otherwise you would miss too much . We then went onto visit the Port Louis - the fort , local market and waterfront . Our guide was informative and friendly .
