Nota: se il percorso è chiuso a causa di frane, altri fattori naturali o motivi di sicurezza, il sentiero potrebbe essere deviato parzialmente o completamente su un percorso alternativo. Questa escursione collega due delle vette più alte dell'isola di Madeira. Si tratta di un percorso mozzafiato, che comprende gallerie e alcuni tratti con ripide salite e discese, offrendo viste meravigliose sul massiccio centrale dell'isola. È anche possibile osservare vari uccelli, alcuni dei quali tipici della Macaronesia, come il fringuello zafferano (Serinus canaria), la pispola delle pampas (Anthus berthelottii madeirensis) e il rondone alibianche (Apus unicolor). Nei pressi del rifugio Pico Ruivo si trova il sentiero PR 1.2, che conduce ad Achada do Teixeira. Ad Achada do Teixeira è possibile vedere la formazione rocciosa basaltica nota come "Uomo in piedi", situata lungo la discesa dopo aver superato il rifugio Achada do Teixeira.

Il Pico do Arieiro Pike, alto 1818 metri, è la terza vetta più alta dell'isola di Madeira. Si consiglia vivamente di salire fino in cima a questa montagna per godere della grande bellezza del paesaggio vulcanico e dei suoi meravigliosi panorami.
Questo è buono come si arriva! Questa passeggiata ti darà un'immagine più completa della vera bellezza di quest'isola. Le formazioni rocciose sembrano voler raggiungere il paradiso come sculture giganti. Durante l'intero tour i panorami sono semplicemente mozzafiato.

A nice hike done with guide Sergio who explained everything step by step. My fitness wasn't great but with each climb we took a rest so everyone could come along, even me. Have a nice day.

The tour was really beautiful; we had the best weather, so we had a wonderful view. We were picked up directly at the hotel, which was very convenient. Sergio, our guide, always walked at the back so that no one could get lost and everyone could walk at their own pace.

The guide an tour were brilliant can't fault them at all was a good day out the summits are well worth the visit the only downside was a large section of pr1 is closed but that's not the tour operators fault

Already, namely the trail that joins the 2 summits is closed, the hike can not be done ... you just do the Pico Ruivo (same way out / back) then by van we leave on Pico Ariero, moreover we did the excursion in the rain and clouds so we saw nothing at all in terms of landscapes! This excursion should have been cancelled in my opinion because apart from if you are passionate about intense hiking , there was no point in walking in the cold and rain on arduous paths! I would not recommend it at all! Luckily thanks to Viator for allowing us compensation for this horrible day...
