Prendi la strada per la storica città di Petropolis, fondata su iniziativa dell'imperatore Dom Pedro II e conosciuta come la "Città Imperiale". Passa accanto al "Palácio Quitandinha", un ex casinò hotel degli anni '40. Visita il Museo Imperiale e scopri di più sulla storia del Brasile e della famiglia imperiale. Osserva il Crystal Palace, palcoscenico di grandi cene e feste. Conosci la Cattedrale di São Pedro de Alcantara, un bellissimo monumento dall'architettura neogotica dove è sepolto D. Pedro II, uno degli imperatori brasiliani. Recati alla Casa di Santos Dumont (visita facoltativa – biglietti non inclusi), un museo sul famoso inventore brasiliano, considerato uno dei pionieri dell'aviazione. Quindi, goditi il tuo tempo libero come desideri: scegli tra una passeggiata in Rua Teresa, famosa per la grande zona dello shopping, o per il tour della Boemia Brewery, ed esplora la tradizionale birra brasiliana. Storico ex hotel resort di lusso, considerato uno dei monumenti architettonici più imponenti di Petrópolis. Fin dalla sua fondazione era il più grande casinò alberghiero dell'America Latina.
Cattedrale costruita in stile neogotico chiesa tra il 1884 e il 1925. È anche il luogo di riposo dell'ultimo imperatore del Brasile, Dom Pedro II, e della sua famiglia.
Il Museo Imperiale è l'ex residenza estiva dell'imperatore Pedro II (regnò dal 1831 al 1889), costruita a partire dal 1845. Il museo comprende pezzi del passato monarchico del Brasile
Palazzo originariamente dedicato ad ospitare mostre ed eventi, inaugurato nel 1884.
Pittoresca residenza costruita nel 1918 che ospitò Santos Dumont, inventore brasiliano e pioniere dell'aviazione.

If you are looking for a respite from the Rio heat, the "Imperial City" tour with C2Rio Tours & Travel is the ideal choice. Not only because of the destination, which looks like a bit of Germany in Brazil, but because of the warmth of the team. We booked the Petropolis day tour and it exceeded our expectations. From the start, the coordination with Ana Julia by WhatsApp was impeccable; we were confirmed the pick-up at our Copacabana hotel 24 hours in advance. One very positive detail: we saw that people staying in Barra de Tijuca were provided with an Uber to approach the meeting point, something that not all agencies do. Our guide, Thais, was a resounding 10. Although most spoke Portuguese, he took all the time to explain every detail in Spanish with a lot of patience and passion. Also special mention for our driver (a genius, very responsible behind the wheel). We visit: Views of Serra dos Órgãos National Park: The scenery on the climb is amazing. Quitandinha Palace (free admission): The perfect entrance to the city. Cathedral of San Pedro de Alcantara. Imperial Museum (entrance fee included with tour): The main course. The collection is very rich and includes the royal crown, the scepter and the king's cape. (Too bad the stables were closed, a reason to come back!). Crystal Palace Free time: Although Rua Teresa was closed for Sunday and we did not want to go to the craft brewery, Thais suggested excellent options. We opted for the Casa de Santos Dumont and sweetened up at the Chocolateria Katz, a total success! The combi was modern and comfortable. One detail I highlight is punctuality; the organization is so professional that they are watching every passenger on WhatsApp to make everything flow. The return was made very enjoyable thanks to the good vibe of the group and the safe driving of our driver (sorry I do not remember her name but very friendly also and responsible behind the wheel). I would definitely choose Thais and C2Rio again for an upcoming adventure.

I am so thankful to have taken this tour! Our tour guide, mama Cris was fantastic, knowledgeable, funny, kind, sweet, friendly and very caring. She took care of her tour group so well and bring firm on punctuality! The tour was so good and educational! I learnt much more about Brazil, Rio de Janeiro snd Pedro I Pedro II. Highly recommended! The visit to Petropolis is a must. Not only is it a city steeped in history and wonderfully preserved, it is in a unique setting, nestled in the middle of nature and breathes incredible peace. An ideal visit to spend a different day near Rio de Janeiro. Monica, the guide, was the best thing that could have happened to us: not only does she know a lot, but she is also super clear explaining, organizing the times and was always at the group’s disposal. Lunch was very good.
There are no words to describe the outstanding experience we had thanks to Newton, the best guide ever. It was so much information about Brazilian royal history (and more) that we were afraid it could be an exam at the end of the tour!! Lol. We highly recommend this tour. It was totally stress free, it felt like visiting with a local family member. We loved it We are looking to go back in the near future and, of course, count on this guided ser ices.
