The fruit farm was nice and the guide was informative. I was expecting to eat different fruits that we dont get back home. Such as durian, miracle fruit, chiko etc. It wasnt worth the $190aud for two adults. Would be better to just go to local market and buy the different fruits to try. Not worth the money.
Fun and educational tour. Guide was brilliant, shown so many exotic fruit plants, fruits and gave us to taste - velvet apple, guava, starfruit, egg fruit, surinam cherry, miracle fruit and others. We were transported by an open car so no strenuous uphill walks. At the end of the tour we got to taste fruit enzymes, various honey (coffee honey is really nice) and got plate of fruit and a glass of fruit juice. Location is just spectacular. We took Grab to the farm but was impossible to find one to return so lady in the reception kindly arranged a taxi for us.
This was actually a brilliiant tour. We were taken up to the farm, which is in the range of hills running through Penang. The countryside is stunning and it was a good drive up there. The temperature is also cooler being up in the hills so a nice break from the humidity. Once there, we met our tour guide, Danny. What he doesn't know about fruit cultivation isn't worth knowing about. We were taken for a short drive further up into the farm and got out. We slowly made our way down, with Danny showing us the fruit trees and, usually getting to try some straight off the tree. Danny would talk about the fruit and describe the fruit's attributes. There were many fruits, if you come from a European/Western background, that you would not have come across before. For instance, I was amazed by a fruit called the Miracle fruit. It was small and when you ate it, it wasn't particularly sweet, but it made every other piece of fruit taste sweeter. Have never had that before! As I indicated before, Danny knows his stuff and gave the most interesting descriptions of the fruits, their cultivation and other related items. Before we knew it, we were back at the main shed/shop area. Once there, as part of the tour, you are given a freshly squeezed fruit juice and a small fruit platter. This was a real highlight for me. The fruit juice came in many combinations, again many which European/Western people would not have seen before and as for the fruit! I was able to eat what I consider to be the best mango I have ever eaten, absolutely superb. If you are looking for a tour that gets you away from the usual tourist spots, one that gets you out into the countryside and fresh air and one where you will learn some amazing facts, then this is the one for you. I highly recommend it and thanks to Danny for making it such an enjoyable and informative tour.
Thank you for the fantastic review! We’re thrilled you enjoyed the tour, the unique fruits, and the guide's incredible knowledge. The Miracle Fruit and fresh mango are always crowd favorites! Tour & Incentive Travel truly appreciates your recommendation and looks forward to welcoming more participants to this refreshing countryside experience.
Guide was very friendly n knowledgeable. We enjoyed the trip and experience. However the booking via TripAdvisor is pricey n high. Suggest can lower it by 20% be great and more acceptable.
A winding road up to the farm. When reached there is another vehicle that picked us to the top and from there the farm guide brought us around the various fruit trees. Some of the fruits were unusual. We get to taste some on the spot. Need to make sure that you go in the right month when there are fruits otherwise the trip may be boring. At the end of the tour, you get to taste different types of enzymes and honey, get a cup of fruit juice and a small box of cut fruits.
We went to visit the tropical fruit farm as part of a day trip we organised with a tour driver. Originally we stopped at the Penang Hill temple and someone told us it is not worth visiting as it's not durian season and I'm so glad we did not listen! The tropical fruit farm is beautiful in itself and we had a very knowledgeable guide take us around and let us try fruits which were in season and many we had not heard of or tried before! We also got to try a different bee honey straight from the tree and sample enzymes drink they make onsite from the fruits they harvest. We finished the tour with a fruit platter. As we were short on time we also had a quick lunch there which was good. Overall we enjoyed the visit and thought the entry fee for it was reasonable. Note; make sure you are wearing mosquito repellent as there were alot around.
Our guide, Philip was really fun. He was very knowledgeable and told us a bunch of jokes. The farm was good. Lots of types of fruit. It would have been better if we had visited when more of the fruit was in season.
An interesting experience for overseas tourists Highlights * Very picturesque * Tour was interesting and not too long. This is not a commercial farm, more for tourists. * I saw fruit I've never seen before * Tasty and unusual fruit platter and enzyme drinks as part of entry cost * Restaurant views were lovely and food ordered was delicious and well priced Improvements * Compared to other Penang experiences, this seemed overpriced (55 Ringits per person compared to 30 for Penang Hill Funicular return and around 75 for Entopia- both being much longer experiences.
Phillip was an amazing guide, very accommodating, very knowledgeable and wisdom. The fruit farm can be prone to power outages so be aware of that as this may mean that you could miss out on the free fruit shake.
Very helpful driver and lovely staff at fruit farm. Very interesting and staff were so generous of their time having had so few visitors since the pandemic.
