Alberto Aveleyra, etnostorico della Scuola Nazionale di Antropologia è il curatore della Mostra Archeologica del Museo Storico di San Miguel (la Casa di Allende). Alberto è un autore pubblicato e uno dei principali ricercatori del sito. La famosa rivista Ancient Mesoamerica dell'Università di Cambridge ha appena pubblicato il suo lavoro sul sito archeologico Cañada de la Virgen (Ancient Mesoamerica 18 maggio 2026), potete controllare questo e altri articoli nella sua pagina web o pagina web accademia.edu. Cammina con me in questo santuario indigeno fondato nel VI secolo d.C. Mentre camminiamo attraverso questo bellissimo paesaggio naturale, impariamo a conoscere le civiltà native preispaniche di 30 secoli, i loro riti, il culto agli antenati, gli scavi archeologici sul sito e le ricerche che sto facendo lì. La mia ricerca riguarda le rotte preispaniche utilizzate dagli antichi pellegrini e il significato culturale delle processioni che vi si svolgevano. La ricerca del DNA rivela che questo sito archeologico era un santuario multietnico, era meta di pellegrini provenienti da diverse parti del Messico per un periodo di 500 anni tra il VI e l'XI secolo della nostra era.

Luoghi e orari di ritiro
L’orario di ritrovo è sempre alle 9 del mattino. Il nostro autista verrà a prendervi al punto di ritrovo, la chiesa di San Paolo. Ci vediamo nel Centro Visite del Sito Archeologico dove iniziamo il tour.

It is impressive what Alberto Aveleyra manages to connect and transmit about his investigations of Cañada de la Virgen. It is certainly a very special experience. A visit that not only connects with the place but also with your heart. Very grateful.
Alberto is an excellent guide. He is not a regular guide, he has a graduate degree in archeology and he is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the pyramids, their history and the past and present research. I highly recommend Alberto as a guide. Also, the money you pay goes for the future research, as Alberto works for the Museum of San Miguel de Allende! (:-o)

You will leave this tour with a new appreciation for the precolonial mystical outlook on the universe and the sacred by taking this pilgrimage. Its a priveledge to learn from someone who has devoted his life to studying this place. Not only that, Albertos tour will make you laugh while you learn!
Expert guide with more information than you can absorb! Be sure that you are capable of walking uphill in thin air.
I paid to go on this visit but they wouldn't answer my 5 messages or 3 phone calls asking the pick up time. Trip Advisor also did not respond to me. I finally got someone at Viator who told me the time is sent out a few hours before the pick up time. A few minutes after my call I received a message to say the trip was cancelled. The next day I received a message to say there were still places available for the trip which had cancelled me. Was it because I am a solo traveller or because I complained about the lack of response. No doubt they will have some unknown reason once they read this!
