This tour is one of the best we have done. Seeing and walking with the penguins was incredible. If you want to actually go onto the island with them, this is the tour. We even got lucky and saw whales on the way back. So cool.
We booked this day trip months in advance. I won’t lie it was confusing and unclear in the description and timings and messages what this tour exactly was and what to expect. It said 2:30 but their messages said 10:00. Luckily day of it was easy, fun, and amazing! We checked in at the desk downtown at 9:30am, signed in, and they took our small group (17) on a small bus. The ride is about 90 minutes on paved and unpaved roads. They make a stop in the woods for a natures bathroom break, and continued to a small covered zodiac for a short trip (10 minutes or so) to the island. Once you step off the boat, you are on the beach surrounded by sea lions and penguins. You have one hour on the island with the guide to see gentoos, magellanics, cormorants, and sea lions. It’s rightfully very restricted and monitored. Fabricio was our guide and he was amazing! He ensured our safety at all times, was very strict to ensure the animals were not interfered with, and made sure all guests adhered to the guidelines so nature remained natural. He explained in English and Spanish what we saw, answered questions, and gave interesting information about the area. There was a few large boats near the island for observation, but this was truly an immersive and special experience that was much better than hundreds of people leaning over a railing to get a photo. We returned back the same way, with sandwiches and water provided on the bus ride back. We had the best time and this is well worth it!
Did not go! We recieved 3 emails and 3 texts stating meeting/departure was at 10:30. Our eticket/voucher said 10:30 but were on the list for 8:30 according to the tour operator. We rescheduled and bought another booking for 4 pm tomorrow/next day🤞
Dear Rustico, I’m very sorry to hear about your discomfort, but on January 5th we informed you that the starting time for that day would be at 8:30 AM, and you accepted it. On February 2nd, we also sent you a reconfirmation message through the Viator system. We truly value your feedback and regret any inconvenience this may have caused. We always do our best to provide clear communication and a pleasant experience for all our guests. Thank you for your understanding. Best regards
Great, unbelievable, fantastic! It was an unforgettable meeting with extraordinary birds, and there were a lot of impressions and emotions, even though the weather was cool and windy. There is an amazing colony of penguins on the island where they live. The amazing guide, Gonzalez, told us a lot about them, the island, the history of observations, and this harsh region, Tierra del Fuego, the end of the world. It is undoubtedly one of the most interesting places in Ushuaia.
Thank you for your valuable feedback. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the excurstion and we appreciate your recommendation of this beautiful destination. Best regards
What a unique experience to be able to walk among the penguin colonies of both Gentoo and Magellanic penguins. We were there for the breeding season and saw many babies and nests. The boat ride out to the farm, combined with the mammal museum and the zodiac ride to the colony made for a very full and fulfilling day. It's a great option when you have a full day open in Ushuaia
Amazing walk through the penguin colony, seeing both Magellanic and Gentoo penguins. We went the second week of January and the babies were just shedding their baby plumage. The nests were active and it was an incredible experience. Dress for all weather as we applied sunscreen in the morning and needed our rain pants by the afternoon. Well worth the high price.
Once in a lifetime experience. Our guide was very professional and you can tell he loves his job. At all times he cared for the protection and safety of the pinguins which is the right way to do it so other generations can actually enjoy their colony too.
Very fun. Remar gives a little work. The approach of the penguins is fantastic, much more interesting than catamaran.
I loved my experience! Imperdible! Our guide was a French woman who lives here! Divine and knows a lot about the history of penguins! Super worth it!
Areas of improvement: - Based on the tour information we thought we would have 2 hours with the penguins but only got 1 hour - This specific booking should communicate what company this tour runs with in the booking so that it is smoother for check in at the pier. With no response from them on time we had to walk around asking each vendor if we were with them or someone else. Luckily we were there early. - The one male guide we had needs to learn how to use the microphone. On the boat anyone in the back never heard him even when we told him nothing changed. On the bus he was completely staticky. His female co-worker was crystal clear and loud on both the boat and the bus. It meant we missed out on all information he shared. Great things: - Our female guide Julie was so wonderful, clear, and knowledgeable. We loved her. - The boat was great! - The penguins were amazing! - The museum and tour were fantastic!
