Our guide, Christina M was friendly and knowledgeable, providing us fascinating and juicy tidbits about the world of prostitutes & courtesans. We saw several buildings which used to be brothels in earlier times. Pictures of the original place and various key personnages helped us imagine what it used to be like. We were shown the range of brothels from exclusive to cheap. Christina fleshed out certain notable courtesans bringing out the more personal aspects of this life. Highly recommended. Put on good walking shoes.

I can't say enough good things about this tour and Ana--she knows so much and her enthusiasm for the subject was infectious! I did a solo tour and it felt like walking around the city with a friend--she answered all of my questions, made suggestions for future visits, and was all around one of the best tour guides I've ever had. The tour itself (which she developed) was amazing--such a great way to learn about famous women of Paris who get short shrift on many other tours. Again: this tour was really the highlight of my trip!

Both fun and historically accurate, a lot of walk but the great cocktail at the end is then well deserved.

I seriously loved this tour! It had the perfect amount of naughtiness and really interesting information. Our guide Ana was fabulous, full of energy and a great storyteller. I have been living in Paris for years and still discovered so many new things about this city! This is one of the tours where I think I will actually remember what we were told as it was all so intriguing! Oh and also the cocktail at the end was fantastic!

Amazing discovery of Paris. I loved understanding the secrets of scandalous Paris, the sharply mastered anecdotes that Ana, our guide, told us. Special mention to the end of the visit (but I keep the surprise).

Ana was a lovely and knowledgeable tour guide. The sights she took us to flowed very well with her intriguing history lessons. Ana shared a wealth of information and photos from her iPad along the way of our lovely walking tour. Despite my hesitation, this was a very tasteful tour and extremely well done. The cocktail at the beautiful hotel (formerly a brothel) was a very nice end to an evening with a fun group of people and a great tour guide!

I have lived in Paris for over 20 years and have read a lot of history books about Paris but there were so many things I discovered on this tour that I had not heard before. As you walk around and look up into windows and stand in front of historical places, your imagination congers up vivid pictures as your extremely knowledgeable tour guide/historian Ana, reveals the secrets of the scandalous places in Paris. As others have said, there is a long but leisurely walk from the Opera up to the Moulin Rouge. The tour takes nearly three hours but I hardly noticed the time passing because I was enthralled in Ana's stories. Her iPad photos to accompany her explanations are a stroke of genius. I had many "ah-ha" moments when passing building and doors that I've seen and photographed before but had NO CLUE what really went on in some of these places. Ana starts with a basic history of the times and then fills in lots of details with antidotes along the way. She's very pleasant, smiley, and holds your attention throughout the tour. We had time to take photos along the way, which was nice. If you have been to Paris before or if this is your first time, you'll enjoy seeing the areas along the tour. You might find yourself standing on a street you've never seen before. You will definitely find yourself amazed at what you hear! I was a bit concerned by the word "kinky" in the description of the tour but Ana keeps her narrative historical and tasteful. I think this tour would be a real winner for a hen party! I'm not entirely sure that 16 year olds need to hear some of the information on the tour but I imagine that Ana can gauge what is appropriate based on the age group of the participants. The crowning touch was drinks at the 5 star hotel that was formerly a brothel! Such a brilliant way to end the tour. I highly recommend this tour to anyone whether Paris is new to you or if you have lived here for decades. Something for everyone to learn and enjoy.

I have nothing but AMAZING things to say about the content, area, and especially our amazing tour guide, Ana! I have lived in Paris for three years now and throughout the years have been on many, many different tours because my family and friends love to take tours when they visit. This is my first time with Localers and it is by far the best experience I have had so far. The meeting place was easy to find, Ana wore a small, but tasteful badge so we knew who to find when we arrived. The tour started at Palais Royale and we walked up until the 9th by Pigalle and finished at Metro Blanche (it seems like a long walk but very doable because it spans over 2.5 hours)! Ana made the tour very historical, showing us lots of photos and telling us a lot of stories about the characters in the different time periods that involve the brothels of Paris. I thought it was the most well-researched and informative tour I have ever taken that went very well along with its theme! Ana did a great job interacting with the entire group and answering ALL of our questions! She also has a great way of telling stories and not making us stand in one place for too long. The tour let us see many different neighborhoods and different monuments that were important to this era. Overall, it was hands down my favorite tour I have ever been on AND it ended with a cocktail in a five-star hotel that used to be a brothel, which stays true to the olden-day decor of the sensual, red satin atmosphere. I can't wait to go on another one with friends and/or family next time they are in town! Thank you Ana for such a memorable afternoon!!

I took this tour yesterday and had an absolutely wonderful time. The tour started promptly at 4 near Palais Royale and finished around 7 near Pigalle. Our tour guide Ana was very knowledgeable and funny as she told us about the unique history of the scandalous side of Paris. The tour, while on a scandalous subject matter, was very historical and accurate and Ana had an iPad full of amazing photos to show us of the characters in her stories - which totally drew us in and make the history come alive. The tour was a considerable amount of walking for people who aren't used to it, but if you wear proper shoes and are prepared ahead of time, it isn't worrisome. We ended the tour having a cocktail in a 5-star hotel modeled after the brothels of the time, very Belle Epoque with velvet couches and throw cushions. This was the best tour I've ever taken in Paris and I can't wait to take my friends on it when they come to visit!
