Una grande struttura moderna dove riposano le spoglie di Padre Pio La Chiesa di San Pio da Pietrelcina è il punto di riferimento per eccellenza per i devoti di Padre Pio, beatificato da Giovanni Paolo II nel 1999 e proclamato santo dallo stesso pontefice tre anni dopo. La grande chiesa, progettata dall’architetto Renzo Piano e completata nel 2004, sorge a San Giovanni Rotondo, dove morì il frate cappuccino dopo avervi risieduto per molti anni. L'imponente edificio fu commissionato dagli stessi Frati Minori Cappuccini di cui faceva parte Padre Pio. Il suo scopo era quello di ospitare le reliquie del santo e accogliere facilmente le migliaia di fedeli che scelgono di visitare San Giovanni Rotondo come meta di pellegrinaggio, offrendo loro un'esperienza quasi mistica. La Chiesa di San Pio è una grande struttura moderna, circondata da un enorme sagrato e composta da una chiesa superiore, dedicata alle celebrazioni liturgiche, una più piccola chiesa inferiore, e una cripta, che ospita le spoglie del santo.
Il Santuario di Santa Maria delle Grazie, con il suo convento, è conosciuto come il luogo in cui visse e morì Padre Pio da Pietrelcina dal 28 luglio 1916. La costruzione della prima chiesa risale al XV secolo; a causa dell'aumento dei visitatori, i lavori per una nuova chiesa iniziarono nel 1956. La vecchia chiesa è rettangolare con una semplice facciata; all'interno, presenta un'unica navata in stile barocco con quattro cappelle dedicate ai santi. L'altare maggiore presenta un affresco ligneo raffigurante la Madonna col Bambino, affiancato da San Giovanni Battista e dall'Evangelista. L'antica chiesa di Santa Maria delle Grazie ospita l'urna contenente le spoglie della martire Santa Massimiana, sotto un altare minore. Il convento comprende la cella di Padre Pio, aperta ai visitatori, e la cripta dove il suo corpo fu custodito prima di essere trasferito nel vicino santuario, progettato da Renzo Piano. Un tour all’interno del convento permette di visitare luoghi significativi per Padre Pio, come la cella e il coro dell’antica chiesa.
Il Santuario di San Michele Arcangelo si trova a Monte Sant'Angelo, in provincia di Foggia, e fa parte dell'arcidiocesi di Manfredonia-Vieste-San Giovanni Rotondo. Il santuario è costituito da una basilica superiore, che comprende il portale romanico, il campanile, e una basilica inferiore, che comprende la grotta dove, secondo la tradizione, apparve l'Arcangelo Michele. È conosciuta anche come Basilica Celeste, in quanto si ritiene sia stata consacrata dall'Arcangelo Michele. Questa basilica minore è uno dei principali centri di culto dedicati all’Arcangelo in Occidente, ed è patrimonio mondiale dell’UNESCO dal 2011. La grotta sacra è accessibile tramite una lunga scalinata. Le parole dell'Arcangelo sono incise qui: "Dove si apre la roccia, lì i peccati degli uomini saranno perdonati".

Absolutely FANTASTIC! Elizabeth was so knowledgeable and helpful. So much more than religious sights. I would book this tour just for the drive through the Italian countryside. Our driver was great. A lot of driving, and we always felt safe and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed everything on the tour. The espresso at the morning pitstop was one of the best on our trip through Italy and France. Later, Elizabeth helped us find a restaurant for lunch and checked in on us to make sure that we didn't need anything. She knew the shops and was able to help guide us find particular items. She and our driver were able to show us points of interest along the way. Very knowledgeable and able to answer questions and provide insights at the sights as well as on the drive without adding her personal opinions or beliefs. (We had a really bad experience at the coloseum with a different tour company.) We told our b&b host to recommend it to his other guests. Truly a highlight of our trip and worth including in your trip!

We had such a fantastic experience with Juliana as our tour guide. She was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely caring. The trip is very interesting especially if you are Catholic and the guide was very friendly. It is still a new tour for this company so guides are learning. Beware it is a great distance from Rome. The return trip was 4 hours in light traffic. The scenery was beautiful on the ride especially along east coast of Italy

The day trip from picking us up at the hotel and taking us to Father Pio and the cave of St. Michael the Archangel tour, and bring us back to the hotel... is a tour I will never forget.
