Nascosta nel cuore del centro della città di Amsterdam, c'è una piccola meraviglia: il Nostro Signore nel Museo Attico. I visitatori faranno un viaggio in una casa sul canale unica ben conservata del XVII secolo. Stretti corridoi e scale conducono ad abitazioni, cucine e reti da letto decorate storicamente, che terminano in quello che è letteralmente il punto culminante del museo: una chiesa completa in soffitta.

Questa chiesa cattolica è stata realizzata nel 1663. Nonostante fosse vietata la celebrazione della santa messa, le autorità chiusero un occhio. In effetti, la chiesa simboleggia la caratteristica tolleranza (religiosa) dei Paesi Bassi, fondata dagli Olandesi nel XVI secolo, sotto Guglielmo d'Orange. La libertà di religione e di coscienza sono i temi centrali del museo di oggi. Il che rende Nostro Signore nell'Attico molto di più di un museo: è un posto speciale in cui contemplare e fare esperienze. Estensione Il Museum Ons' Lieve Heer op Solder è il più antico museo nella città, secondo solo al Rijksmuseum. Monumento unico dell'Eta dell'Oro, è stato conservato in gran parte grazie a iniziative di privati. Nel 2015, il monumento è stato esteso con un edificio aggiuntivo al civico 38 di Oudezijds Voorburgwal, dove si trova il nuovo vestibolo d'ingresso. I due edifici sono collegati tra loro tramite un passaggio sotterraneo. L'Ons' Lieve Heer op Solder è oggi un vero e proprio museo in situ, dove la storia è tangibile e tutto è antico e autentico, dove i visitatori possono sperimentare veramente l'edificio e la sua storia, e dove si può anche stabilire un legame con gli eventi attuali.

Really interesting Roman Catholic Church, built covertly in the top floors of a canal-side merchant’s house. We paid £15.50 each for tickets. The museum has a free audio guide. The tour explains how Protestantism became the only religion which was permitted to be practiced in public when the state on the Netherlands was formed, although people were allowed to worship in private if they were not Protestants. We spent about 90 minutes on the tour. The museum also has a cafe, shop and toilets.
Our visit exceeded our expectations. While we expected to see an interesting chapel, we didn’t expect to learn so much history and to be as impressed as we were with what we found there. Highly recommend!
Magnificent house/museum. You wouldn't imagine this from the street. House that has kept its authenticity. The audio guide is a real plus. A must-see.
This is a hidden gem and a very edifying experience, especially if you are Catholic or a Christian. The historical significance is also moving. This is a lesser known tourist destination also so it’s a great place to get away from the crowds.
This was very interesting. The self-guided tour provided a lot of information. A friend had recommended this site to us, we wouldn’t have known about it. It was very worthwhile to see!
Fantastic, really interesting to see how you would have lived in a traditional city house in Amsterdam a few hundred years ago. Then you get to the Church and wow a "How did they do that" moment. Well worth a visit if you have an hour to spare.

Surprising experience in the middle of Amsterdam that gives a good idea of what difference in religion can lead to.
Fabulous Museum. It was number 1 on my list to see. A dear friend recommended this museum. As a Roman Catholic, it was very important for me to see it. It was the number 1 reason I wanted to come.
This museum is strongly recommended, we really enjoyed our visit, but unfortunately we had to pay again as my transaction was showing pending, it didn’t clear until the next day and thought staff assured me they would refund my tickets if it went through they refused and suggested we get in touch with our 3rd party which is aviator, don’t know why it was delayed by pending.
