A 30 minuti dalla confusione della grande città si trova un luogo poco visitato ma con una atmosfera magica. Una esperienza per molti versi superiore alla visita di Pompei che si è spenta sotto le ceneri del Vesuvio nel 79 D.C. mentre Ostia continuò a prosperare fino al IV secolo. Camminerete lungo il le strade Principali (Cardo e Decumano) ancora ricoperte dal selciato romano antico, per scoprire luoghi, abitudini, vita quotidiana degli antichi romani. La guida è una persona ricca di humor che rende la passeggiata piacevole ed interessante. Vi racconterà particolari che non si trovano nelle guide scritte e vi porterà per mano negli angoli più suggestivi della città antica... non dimenticate le scarpe comode!!!

Arriveremo con il treno fino ad Ostia Antica ( 25 minuti) cammineremo per 10 minuti per arrivare alla biglietteria del Sito archeologico di Ostia Antica. Esploreremo la città della tardo antichità, e passeggeremo vivendo per un giorno come gli antichi romani, andremo a vedere il Teatro, le terme, i bagni pubblici, il Capitolium, i magazzini, il piazzale delle corporazioni, caseggiati multipiano un Termopolium Luoghi dove un tempo si concentrava la vita commerciale di Roma. Questa città è vissuta più a lungo di Pompei ed è stata abbandonata verso il IV secolo. Dimenticata nel medioevo oggi gli scavi archeologici hanno riportato alla luce una superficie di 120 ettari. Visiteremo i luoghi più suggestivi e significativi della Città antica di Ostia. Non ci limiteremo a passeggiare sulla via principale ma andremo alla scoperta di mosaici, terme, negozi e mulini, bagni pubblici, templi e ville private. una passeggiata archeologica con una guida che riporterà alla luce per voi i vari aspetti della vita dell'epoca. Questa visita non è adatta a chi ha problemi di deambulazione, si consigliano scarpe comode.
Terminata la visita guidata, potete scegliere se rimanere e visitare il museo o la sinagoga antica o proseguire fino ad Ostia Lido verso la spiaggia, oppure tornare indietro con il treno e la guida. Se lo desiderate la guida vi darà tutte le informazioni necessarie per andare a visitare altre cose o andare a degustare un pranzo al mare, che dista solo una fermata di treno.

We immensely enjoyed our sunset dinner cruise with Kingston 1000 Island Cruises. We sailed on the 17th of August on the Island Star out of Kingston. We had reserved a premium table next to the window which was wonderful and we were only one row away from the front of the vessel with a great view of the band that was performing east coast music. Our starters were delicious with a nice selection of cheeses and fruit and the amuse bouche of the tomato and bocconcini. We ordered the French 75 and the Mimosa-rita for our drinks. The French 75 (gin, prosecco and lemon) was just perfect but I didn’t like my Mimosa-Rita and our server (Karlee) replaced it with an Aperol Spritz at no additional cost. The Spritz was good…but a little dash of St. Germain would make it better :) The salad was fresh and tasty and our meals were unexpectedly delicious. Immense compliments to Wheelhouse Culinary! My husband had the Braised rib and I had the Arctic char - both were plentiful and beautifully presented. The rib was cooked to perfection and fell apart . It was very flavourful and the artic char melted in my mouth. I had ordered a side of sautéed mushrooms and they were perfect - nicely done and a perfect accompaniment to both our meals. Karlee - our server - was patient and kind and efficient…a big thank you to her. Now to the cruise…it was a beautiful night - great sunset and we were able to escape the rain which occurred during our cruise and conveniently ended when we returned to port…great timing on the captains part! We were able to see some sights before the sun set and the band leader gave us some local history on our way out of port…as well as details on the geography of what we were passing by. We greatly enjoyed the band - unfortunately they had a problem with one of their amplifiers when water (from the rain) shorted it out. They took it in their stride and continued to play with one amp and a smile. We highly recommended this tour!

Friendly & knowledgeable. Fun for all ages. Size & amount of access & restoration has greatly increased over the last 15 years.
Micaela was outstanding. She has a wonderful way of showing all of the sites and explaining what it looked like to live in the town. She also answered our questions regarding Roman history and things we saw in Rome. Highly recommend her tour of Ostia and also anything else in Rome. One of the highlights of the trip.
