A metà strada tra Lazio e Toscana troviamo Orvieto, un piccolo paese dell'Umbria. Mentre la parte della città in superficie è cambiata nel tempo, la struttura sotterranea originale è rimasta per lo più intatta. La visita guidata di Orvieto Underground è quindi, lo strumento più adatto per entrare in contatto con questo tratto molto caratteristico della città, estremamente ricco di storia e che vanta “gioielli” artistici davvero notevoli. Passo dopo passo echi misteriosi e affascinanti ci raccontano l’età etrusca, mentre fantasmi del Medioevo e del Rinascimento spuntano dall’ombra umida. La splendida facciata del Duomo di Orvieto è tra le migliori al mondo Per quanto riguarda la decorazione e la sua parte interna, dipinta da Luca Signorelli. Fu fonte di ispirazione anche per maestri come Michelangelo. Michelangelo infatti prima di iniziare a dipingere Cappella Sistina, si recò a Orvieto per ammirare come Luca Signorelli dipinse Paradiso e Inferno nel Duomo (costo d’ingresso: 7 euro a persona).

Orvieto è una città e comune in provincia di Terni, Umbria sud-occidentale, situata sulla sommità pianeggiante di una grande massa di tufo vulcanico. La città si erge drammaticamente sopra le pareti quasi verticali di tufo che sono completate da mura difensive costruite con la stessa pietra chiamata Tufo.
Civita di Bagnoregio fu fondata dagli Etruschi più di 2.500 anni fa. La Civita (o Città) fu la città natale di San Bonaventura, morto nel 1274. La posizione della sua casa d'infanzia è caduta da tempo dal bordo della scogliera. Nel XVI secolo, Civita di Bagnoregio stava iniziando a declinare, venendo eclissata dal suo ex borgo Bagnoregio. Alla fine del XVII secolo, il vescovo e il governo comunale furono costretti a trasferirsi a Bagnoregio a causa di un forte terremoto che accelerò il declino del centro storico. A quel tempo la zona faceva parte dello Stato Pontificio. Nel XIX secolo, la posizione di Civita di Bagnoregio si stava trasformando in un'isola e il ritmo dell'erosione si accelerò man mano che lo strato di argilla sottostante la pietra veniva raggiunto nella zona in cui si trova l'odierno ponte. Bagnoregio continua ad essere una piccola ma prospera città, mentre il sito più antico divenne noto in Italiano come La città che muore. Civita di Bagnoregio ha conosciuto solo di recente una rinascita turistica.

A fantastic trip. The driver was pleasant and professional. He provided great service. The guide was knowledgeable and easy to understand. The locations were amazing. I highly recommend this tour.
The scenery is very beautiful, the whole journey is comfortable and comfortable, the time and itinerary are well coordinated, the driver and tour guide are experienced, and the driving is safe. If you need private space and comfortable travel, this itinerary is definitely a good choice
We did 7 tours with AIM Limo. Hard pressed to choose the best one. Each was a unique opportunity to be immersed in Italian culture. The scenery, food, information on each area was unbelievable. Alessandro and Evano were wonderful to work with. They arrived early each day to get us and never made us feel rushed. They were very knowledgeable about each area we visited. We also used them for our airport transfers. I would highly recommend them for touring around Rome…the Vatican, Colosseum, etc….but you must schedule a day trip with them “off the beaten path”. Their prices are reasonable and the experience extraordinary!
The suggestion to go to unique destinations and venues, that tourists would never even know about was phenomenal. Thank you Allessandro and Ivano! It was heavy rain on the way. There was thunder and it kept raining so much that I thought of going back to Rome, but when I arrived, the rain was flip-flopping and clouds were hanging over Civita, like the whole city was floating. It was like a river on three sides, crossing a single bridge hidden in the clouds all the way. It was a fantastic experience. It was sunny on the way back, and I was able to experience a sunny Civita. It's a wonderful place to be. It will definitely be an impressive day.
We spent the day touring with Alessandro, he escorted us on our tour and made some very good recommendations. Would not hesitate to use their tour service again. If you are concerned about the cost, it's worth it. It's way better than a tour bus, I have had that experience on prior vacations. Pick your tour, pay the cost and relax and enjoy Italy. RJD
It's a lovely tour, a city with beautiful landscapes that suddenly appear when you drive around and you can go around slowly without thinking about the people around you.
This was our fourth visit to Rome, so we were ready for some new adventures. We had an incredible day; Livio was prompt and a pleasure. He had great insights, was personable and fun to get to know, and even taught us a few things about agriculture in the area. We had a wonderful day; I would highly recommend this trip, this company, and this driver.
This was simply the most amazing trip. I really enjoyed seeing Civita di Bagnoregio more than anything else I saw in Italy. Admittedly, I had been to Italy once before and seen the big "must sees", so if you haven't been, maybe Civita is not where you want to start, but as a person who loves the road less traveled, this was TOPS - literally. This little city is situated seemingly at the top of the world. Our driver, Davide, was friendly and knowledgeable. His English was very good and he helped me along with my very poor Italian. He had a broad knowledge of the area philosophies, flora and fauna, history, customs, and food- which we talked about at length while he drove. We were free to roam the sites at both stops, so there was not a tour of Civita or Orvieto per se, but just strolling through these marvels was entertainment enough. Wonderful day trip from Rome!
