What a fun and delicious walking tour! (Even if we got caught in the rain!) Sam, our guide, was easy to understand and very well versed in the history of Quebec City. I was told this tour had plenty of food and they were right. (It starts at 11AM so skip eating an early lunch before going.) It is a 3 hour tour and well worth the time. We had Quebec style pea soup- delicious. A duck breast carpaccio- good! Maple taffy- yummy. Quebec style maple fudge- to die for. At another stop a house-made croissant that is the best I've had anywhere- including Paris! Some other items were included and, of course, poutine (an eastern Canada staple) which seems to be soggy french fries with canned gravy and cheese curds. Yuk. (I went on two food tours in eastern Canada this trip and had poutine both times. Yuk again.) At one stop we were served an "oat risotto crowned with a small rock shrimp salad"- it wasn't just me- three other people on the tour said it was terrible, sorry. I eat like a horse and was full after this tour. All in all, it was both a fun and delicious way to spend 3 hours in Quebec City. Would I do it again? Yes!
Excellent. Guide was great and so was the food. Learned a lot from our guide. He had great knowledge of the city. He was very personable and pleasant.
Claude was a wealth of knowledge about Quebec and the importance of food in its history and culture. Great tour!
Claude was excellent. Very knowledgeable about Quebec City history.
Sam was a wonderful tour guide. He was knowledgeable and added just the right amount of personal anecdotes and humor. The food on the tour was excellent!
Some places are best discovered when someone else knows where to take you. We hope the stops we chose gave you a few of those discoveries. It was a pleasure having you with Secret Food Tours!
The reviews did not disappoint. This was a fun way to get to know Quebec's old town and try some of the local cuisine. Sam, our tour guide, was well-informed and engaging and managed to make himself heard even through construction and the rattle of garbage cans (it was trash day). As one member of our party said, "This was the first tour I've been on where I got to learn something without getting a backache -- and eating." 'Nuff said.
A good day doesn’t always need a packed itinerary. We hope you had time to enjoy the food, look around, and simply settle into the neighborhood with us. Secret Food Tours was pleased to have you along!
This was a wonderful food tour and our guide, Vincent, was excellent. The food was so good that it was difficult to pick a favorite stop. Vincent did an awesome job of peppering in an assortment of local facts and history, as well as highlighting interesting tid bits on the dishes that we sampled.
The city has plenty of familiar faces, but there’s always another corner waiting to be discovered. We hope the tour helped you find a few of them. It was great having you with Secret Food Tours!
Great way to see the city! Tricia was an extremely knowledgeable guide and the restaurants were fun. Highly recommend!
Meeting guests from different places is one of the things that keeps these tours interesting. We’re glad your travels brought you to our door. Thank you for being part of Secret Food Tours!
Our tour guide, Sam, was great - knowledgeable and friendly! He was also very helpful with all of us who hadn’t been aware that the tour wasn’t all inclusive of any drinks that would be served. Many on our tour had to be alerted to pay extra for that on the spot, which took time and attention away from the experience. The company could have clearer messaging.
Thank you for sharing your perspective, Jessica. We do appreciate your feedback regarding the drinks and understand how a detail like that can take some attention away from the experience. We’ll certainly keep your comments in mind as we continue refining how we communicate the different options available, as we do offer drink upgrade options for guests who would like to further appreciate the local tastes and flavors of Quebec City. We’d love to welcome you back to Old Quebec again in the future and give you another opportunity to enjoy the food, stories, and flavors of the city!
Sitting in popular restaurants, trying so many local foods, hearing so much architectural history, I highly recommend this tour.
Thank you for being part of the Secret Food Tours experience. We hope you felt comfortable from the beginning and enjoyed the day as much as we enjoyed sharing it with you. We look forward to having you with us again!
