Unfortunately we didn't see the Northern Lights on the evening organized with this tour operator! The nice thing was to be able to ride a snowmobile even if common thing we had never done before! Driving our snowmobile very secluded and gave us very little confidence! While a guy of Asian origin who drove the other snowmobile was very helpful and nice! We saw the dawn elsewhere and it left us speechless! Happy tour to you people of TripAdvisor!
Basically not bad, but too many participants. The fun of snowmobiling was limited. For this we "found" the aurora borealis 😃 Whether price/performance correspond to each other.... that is for everyone to decide for themselves.
We booked several tours with Nordic Unique Travel and had a mixed experience overall. The actual tours themselves were very good. Once we were out on the tour with the guide, the experience was enjoyable, informative, and well worth it. This was definitely the strongest part of the company. However, a significant downside was the amount of time spent waiting around, which felt like it made up almost 50% of the experience. We spent a lot of time waiting for other guests to arrive, waiting for transportation, and standing around in large groups. This often meant tours started late and felt far less personalized than expected. The experience at the office was also quite chaotic. Communication was not great, and it often felt disorganized with no clear management presence. At the end of one tour, the shuttle bus did not arrive as planned, leaving us standing outside in very cold conditions while alternative transport was arranged. Unfortunately, there were no apologies or clear explanations offered. The tours did not feel particularly personalized, and it didn’t come across as a locally run operation, which was disappointing given the premium feel suggested when booking. My advice to future travelers: Do your research into the group sizes, how much time is actually spent on the tour versus waiting for others, and the level of personalization you’re looking for. If you’re okay with larger groups and some logistical inefficiencies, you may still enjoy the tour content itself — but be prepared for delays and disorganization outside of the actual tour time.
We booked a snowmobile sleigh tour with Northern Lights hunting. We were aware that the natural phenomenon is not guaranteed. On the tour we were sold for stupid; 1. Stop in a parking lot-like place right next to the main road to Rovaniemi, the light pollution was massive and so the possibility to see aurora borealis is already extremely low. 2. Wait, in the middle of a forest, barely a view to the sky - how could you see the aurora borealis?! The 3. Halt was then the most hopeful - with distant vision. There we stopped after about 30min drive (although as usually in circles or at least 3 times passed the starting point). At the stop, my travel companion was asked to hold the iphone to the horizon to see if the aurora borealis are visible. How unprofessional is that? To be honest, the conditions were very bad that evening to see the Northern Lights but from an alleged "guidebook" you might expect to look around yourself. At the 20 minute break, we were served 1/4 cup of hot berry tea (=about 2 sips) and 2 cockies. Exactly 1 hour after we left, we were finished and were led back to Rovaniemi. The whole tour from Rovaniemi and back took max. 1h50min. A total duration of 3 hours was given. No opinion yet from the Agency (Management). We then learned from a local guide that it is NOT a local agency. So please, hands off this agency!!
Dear Isabelle, Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry the experience did not meet your expectations. While the Northern Lights are unpredictable, we have successfully seen them at those locations before—it all depends on the conditions. We are a local agency and always strive to offer the best possible experience. Your input helps us improve, and we appreciate you sharing your thoughts. Best regards,
Antoinette was a super guide, very helpful and went out of her way to allow us to see the aurora. The 1st time in life and unforgettable experience that you can not adequately describe with words! The only drawback: it would be important to offer a glass of tea given the temperatures (-10) and even more to share the photographs taken that only with the latest generation phones make the idea of dancing northern lights.
We did the snowbike activity looking for the Northern Lights it was great we had ZAK as a French accompanist it was great. It was snowing we unfortunately did not see the Northern Lights but ZAK made our activity unforgettable. He took care to give us advice on the city. He explained to us what a Northern Lights was. I recommend this place. Thank you Zak for your kindness and professionalism. (Good fireworks coming out of nowhere 🤣🙂)
Tour: Northern Lights Snowmobile Hunt - I enjoyed this tour and recommend it! It was a little chaotic when everyone was getting their overalls, but this is common when there’s such a large group. The tour was still very organized and the guides were very knowledgeable. Upon arrival at the start point, the guides explained us how to safely operate the snowmobile. After we ride for a while, we stopped to set up the fire, grill some sausages, and search for the northern lights. It was like -19°C outside! Some people decided to leave earlier and unfortunately, missed the northern lights. Weather wasn’t in our favor, but at least we were able to see them. With this being said, be prepared to spend multiple hours outside and layer-up. The overalls are good but you still need to wear all other layers, to include a down jacket if it’s very cold. For the return, those that wanted to go ‘faster’ were grouped together, which was very cool. Overall, I liked that we were never rushed, enabled to soak-in our surroundings, and enjoy the experience. Thanks!
Andrea L was a great guide. We had the best time and got plenty pictures of the lights. He was great with the children and was extremely friendly and welcoming. Well worth the money!!! 😊
Great experience although northern lights weren’t visible. The actual snowmobiling is about 30-45 mins.
Fascinating experience. I participated on the snowmobile with Gianluigi, a really good guide. Very attentive to the group, he gave clear and precise instructions. During the bonfire he clearly explained the phenomenon of the Northern Lights and told legends and stories related to the Northern Lights. Really smart and professional person.
