Questo è un bellissimo e vibrante tempio indù (o Kovil) dedicato a Lord Ganesha, la divinità dalla testa di elefante venerata come la Rimozione degli Ostacoli e il Dio della Saggezza. Architettura : presenta un gopuram (torre d'ingresso) in stile dravidico sorprendentemente colorato, ornato da intricate sculture e statue di vari dei e dee indù. Significato: funge da luogo di culto vitale per la comunità locale indù, riflettendo il ricco patrimonio multireligioso di Negombo. L'esperienza : I visitatori possono entrare per sperimentare l'atmosfera serena e spirituale, ammirare le opere d'arte dettagliate e assistere ai rituali quotidiani che coinvolgono fiori, incensi e lampade.
⛪ Chiesa di Santa Maria (Maha Veediya Palliya) Negombo è notoriamente conosciuta come "Piccola Roma", e questa maestosa chiesa è il fulcro di questa reputazione. Mercato del pesce di Negombo e campi di pesce secco Il mercato del pesce di Negombo, localmente conosciuto come Lellama, è uno spaccato caotico, colorato e autentico della vita locale. È uno dei mercati ittici più grandi e dinamici dell’isola. Mercato : meglio visitare la mattina presto (intorno alle 6:00) per vedere i pescatori scaricare le loro catture fresche di tonno, granchio, gamberi e vari pesci di barriera. È uno spettacolo vivace, rumoroso e vivace che offre uno sguardo crudo sull'economia della pesca dello Sri Lanka. Il canale corre per circa 14,5 chilometri (9 miglia), collegando Puttalam a Colombo, e passa proprio attraverso Negombo, dove si collega con la Laguna di Negombo.

Athula was very polite and respectful toward me, considering that I was a woman traveling alone. Had a great time and was taken to enough places. Great selection of sites from temples to fish market. The length of time was ample and Atula had a sarong for us to use. We should have realised and wore knee length skirts.

Absolutely brilliant tour guide, very knowledgeable and polite. Provided ice cold water for free. Took us to some stunning churches and temples, and to the famous fish market ( be prepared for strong smells, luckily I'm from Grimsby so the smell of fish didn't bother me). The tour guide didn't pressure us or take us to anywhere we didn't want to go and even offered to take us to an ATM and a supermarket to buy rice (as my phone succumbed to the 95% humidity so needed drying out). Great value for money definitely recommended and will use again.
