This is an amazing experience. Mya was awesome, was a great way to see the real side of Fiji. Would recommend to anyone coming to Nadi.
Excellent tour!! John was very personable and went above and beyond to share so much knowledge along the way.
Great tour by John! Learnt a lot and got to see all the sights in Nadi tourS the temple was very cool to see and good to have John to give us the history
Very friendly guide. Gave good information at a good pace. I feel we saw part of the real Fiji while walking the streets.
This was exactly what we wanted for our first full day here in Fiji! We got to learn about the culture, ask all the questions and got to experience some of the local life. Maya was great and took me by a couple of stores to make sure I could get essentials at the next price. They are great! If you are wondering if you should book it, just do it.
Thank you for your wonderful review and for recommending our small family-owned walking tour. I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed your time with Maya, and that she helped make your experience in Nadi both enjoyable and memorable.
Not enough material to fill the time. They explain that the tour is an overview of the city but we got very little information and the only part of history they seemed willing to talk about was the sugar industry. The tour guide was dismissive, patronising and hostile. We gained very little information and nothing more than what we would have done walking it ourselves. Tour guide wouldn't answer any questions about politics or religion and was only willing to discuss one aspect of modern history. We were uncomfortable the way the tour guide spoke about indo-fijians as it came across extremely racist. We have been on many walking tours in many countries and this is not the standard we would expect - especially a paid tour.
Hello Stacey, I was genuinely saddened and shocked to read your review, especially as no concerns were raised during the tour itself. Had you expressed disappointment on the day, I would have welcomed the opportunity to explain or clarify anything that may have concerned you. You mentioned that there was “not enough material to fill the time"; however, during the tour, we visited all advertised highlights, including the Nadi Farmers Market, fruit tasting, handicraft center, Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple, and local art gallery. We also spent additional time discussing Fiji’s history, agriculture, multicultural society, food, traditions, and everyday life, including almost 30 extra minutes after the tour answering questions and sharing recommendations. You also mentioned that I was “dismissive, patronizing, and hostile,” which I completely reject. As a gesture of goodwill, I upgraded you both to a private tour at no extra cost so you could enjoy a more personal experience. The tour was delivered in a relaxed and respectful manner throughout, with local interaction at the markets and temple included. Regarding your comments about politics and religion, I always try to discuss these topics carefully and respectfully within a cultural context while avoiding political debates that may create discomfort during a walking tour experience. Most upsetting to me was the accusation that I spoke about Indo-Fijians in a racist way. I completely reject this claim. Fiji’s multicultural history was discussed in an educational context only. I come from a multicultural background myself, and my partner and I have two part-Indian children in our family. Respect for all cultures and communities is something I value deeply both personally and professionally. This tour was created as a genuine introduction to Fijian culture and daily living, and over the years many guests — including educational and university groups — have appreciated the authenticity and warmth of the experience. I respect that not every tour connects with every traveler in the same way, but I do feel this review unfairly misrepresents both the tour itself and my character as a guide.
It was a pleasure to meet with John. He was very knowledgeable about Nadi. John shared about the recent past of Nadi and history of Fiji. He was patient with all of our questions and answered all of them. John shared the handicraft traditions of locals with us and at the market we sample some fresh pineapple. John introduced us to art work of contemporary local artists. At the end of the tour John let 7s know to contact him with any further questions or concerns, he'd be happy to help us. Very kind and generous.
Hello Jennifer. The pleasure was mine. Thank you for your wonderful review. I wish you both an enjoyable rest of your stay in Fiji.
John was our tour guide. We were lucky to be the only group on that day which made it more private. John was very friendly, attentive. and knowledgeable. The tour was amazing and we had fun trying all the local fruits/products. We highly recommend this tour.
Thank you, Pam. Happy birthday. Enjoy your last few days in Fiji.
Jon was very well informed. You could tell he loved his country. If you would like to learn more about Fiji this is the tour to take. Also , I recently hurt my foot and he was very considerate to not go too fast.
You're welcome, Brent; it was my pleasure being your tour guide. I sent you the pictures requested on WhatsApp. I hope you received them. Enjoy the rest of your holiday in Fiji and NZ.
