Situato lungo la Strada Nazionale 6 tra il centro di Siem Reap e l'aeroporto internazionale, il Museo della Guerra Cambogia (ex Museo della Guerra di Siem Reap) si estende su oltre 2 ettari. IT è stata fondata nel 2001 e rinominata nel 2013 con importanti ristrutturazioni a partire dal 2015 per preservare e restaurare reperti
Wat Thmei è un piccolo ma importante sito commemorativo a Siem Reap, costruito per onorare le vittime del tragico passato della Cambogia sotto il regime dei Khmer Rossi. Situato all'interno dei terreni di una pagoda buddista funzionante, contiene uno stupa di vetro pieno di teschi e ossa di coloro che hanno perso la vita. I visitatori possono vedere mostre che spiegano la storia oscura della Cambogia, mentre vivono anche l'atmosfera pacifica dei terreni del tempio dove i monaci continuano la loro vita quotidiana. A differenza dei più grandi Killing Fields vicino a Phnom Penh, Wat Thmei è un luogo di memoria più intimo, che offre riflessione e intuizione culturale
L'APOPO Visitor Center offre un'esperienza stimolante ed educativa in cui i visitatori imparano come ratti giganti africani appositamente addestrati, noti come HeroRAT, rilevano mine terrestri e salvano vite in Cambogia. La visita guidata include un'introduzione alla storia delle mine terrestri della Cambogia, una dimostrazione dal vivo dei ratti al lavoro e storie di come l'APOPO abbia aiutato a liberare vaste aree di terra per le comunità locali. Lanciato nel marzo 2023 e situato al numero 256 di BBU Road, Satcha funge da primo centro di incubazione artigianale della Cambogia. IT responsabilizza e forma artigiani locali attraverso intensivi programmi pluriennali che combinano tecniche tradizionali Khmer con design contemporaneo. Esteso su circa un ettaro, il sito comprende laboratori, giardini paesaggistici, uno showroom e una caffetteria, tutti costruiti con materiali sostenibili ed ecologici come il bambù.
La residenza reale (Preăh Réachôdâmnăk) è una villa reale costruita nel 1904, che funge da residenza ufficiale del re di Cambogia quando visita Siem Reap IT ha significato storico dall'era del protettorato Francese, quando si dice che il re Norodom Sihanouk abbia pianificato la sua campagna di indipendenza da lì negli anni '50 Solo Siem Reap Un grave incendio nel marzo 2023 ha danneggiato uno degli edifici del complesso, anche se la residenza principale è stata risparmiata; sono in corso lavori di restauro

We were looking for something to do in Seim Reap that did not involve a temple or ancient ruin. That is exactly what we found we in this highly educational tour about the killing fields and what Cambodia has gone through as a country. It also highlighted the importance of the Appoca organization and their training of rats to find land mines in the country. And some of the artillery that is laying around in Cambodia at the war museum. Make sure to visit the royal palace and gardens to see the tree bats and release a bird to bring good karma for the rest of your trip
