Alla mostra interattiva ad alta tecnologia del Lava Center scoprirai la nascita e la crescita dell'Islanda come una delle più grandi isole vulcaniche del mondo. È sorto nel corso di milioni di anni dalla dorsale sottomarina del Nord Atlantico, attraverso innumerevoli eruzioni vulcaniche. Si verificano quando un grande pennacchio di mantello aggiunge localmente roccia fusa al flusso di magma sotto i segmenti di rifting che costeggiano questa cresta. La diffusione lungo la dorsale fa sì che le placche tettoniche eurasiatiche e nordamericane si allontanino di 20 chilometri ogni milione di anni, un'unghia all'anno. Interagisci con i vulcani e senti il tremito dei terremoti. Un film fantastico che mostra le ultime eruzioni in Islanda e un bellissimo ponte di osservazione completano una visita da non perdere.

Very friendly people to explain the welcome, beautiful film showing and everything in this building was beautiful and pleasant.

If somebody asks me about lava and geology i would point them straight to lava centre and their museum and movie. Not only is it intresting but its interactive and fun.

The Lava Center is located right on the road and has a large parking lot. At the time of our visit, there was very little going on, which was pleasant. We booked the film and tour. The film is very short and shows some of the latest eruptions. The film was okay, but it didn't necessarily have to be made. The tour through the subsequent exhibition was very interesting and really well done. All information is available in Icelandic or English. Many opportunities to interact. Duration is approximately 1 hour. One can, for example, feel the different magnitudes of earthquakes. One feels very humble and small after the visit. On the roof of the building, there is an observation platform from which one can see the various volcanoes. Unfortunately, not much can be seen in cloudy weather. The shop in the building is well-stocked and can also be visited without a ticket. As can the café. We did not visit this, but it looked nice.

I visited Lava as part of an organised tour. I was very impressed by the amount of different exhibits and the way it explained the various types and timelines involved in the whole process. It is well laid out and has enough people who could explain and answer questions.
The centre had good signage and was easy to navigate . Information as clear and facilities were clean looking. The movie was just a collection of volcano clips with loud music, which was a bit disappointing
