The Winery itself was interesting and the food was good. The wine was delicious. The map route was horrendous- I don’t know whether it’s the Sat Nav or the coordinates but it sent us up un drivable roads and along many steep roads and walks. Had we known exactly where we were going we could have driven right to the square above the actual wine cellar/ shop. I’d recommend using a different address.
Very good tour of winery, in-depth interesting detail of wine making process; food was good. Only caution, the city is difficult to find parking, usually outside the city walls, plan on extra time to find parking and walking is uphill.
Honestly I wasn't sure what to expect but Montepulciano is a beautiful little town with some nice shops and restaurants. We had a scheduled wine tasing and lunch. The tour of the wine cellars was pretty quick but informative and it was impressive to see the caves. The wine tasting and lunch was excellent. Our sommelier was very friendly, had an extensive knowledge of wines and wine making, and had a great way of explaining the various wines of Montepulciano as well as wine making in general. The lunch was good and consisted of local cuisine. Our sommelier recognized quickly that my daughter was pregnant and immediately had the chef prepare alternative foods without the meats and cheeses without even having to ask. I didn't feel any pressure to buy wine.....but since it was so good, I did! I was pleasantly surprised and would recommend!
We booked this expereince expecting a visit to a vinyard, instead we went in the shop, in the cellar and had lunch in a freezing so called tasting area. An expensive tourist trap! We were glad to get out of there
Well-executed walking tour and guiding. Nice atmosphere Good food for lunch and above all good wines to taste
This was a great experience for a group of 10 friends. We were able to walk down under through the wine cellar and learn about its history, storage and aging. We sampled wines with a sommelier (Flavio) while enjoying excellent appetizers and two-course lunch of our individual choices. It was a fun atmosphere and time flew by. Afterward you can purchase the wines you enjoyed.
Great experience while staying in Montepulciano. We learned how the vino is processed and where are the ingredients are from. We had a great time and and tasted good Italian food. Thanks
The wine explanations by Nikolai was outstanding. He is very knowledgeable and personable wine tasting were a bit skimpy for what was paid in total you barely got a glass of wine Service by Viator. Was terrible. Asked for selections. And when sent in. Did not accommodate, when questioned there were only denials
Good morning, As said via email: we never received your email. It would be an alert to not receive any reply from us, but apparently it was not. Anyhow, we have asked you clarification about the email you sent, and we never got a reply back. However, we accept every kind of critics as (we hope) their aim is to improve our service. We hope next time you will find our service improved. Best regards
We had a great experience. I would like a little more on the tour side and explanation but we enjoyed it.
Very interesting and detailed tour of the wine cellar, including the wine making process. Great selection of wines for tasting in a casual manner. The food provided for lunch was simple but delicious.
