The Mercara Gold Estate - World Coffee Museum!

This is a coffee aficionado’s pilgrimage. Had one of the best times here with Salim. He is an encyclopaedia of coffee and many other plants. This place shouldn’t be missed in Coorg.
Saleem was a very knowledgeable guide and answered all our questions very well. The coffee plantation and chocolate factory experience was top notch.
Worst place visit and worst behaviour of staff don’t even have manners to treat customer I didnt go after paying money be coz of the bad behaviour of the staff

Highly recommend a guided tour of this plantation. We booked the tour online and were extremely pleased with the professionalism the team showed us. Our guide, Mr Salim, was a delight! A walking encyclopedia on Botany. We spent about 2 hours walking and discussing different plantations, their histories, and their journeys. Don't miss the fresh filter coffee at the end of the tour.
Great patient detail of the plantation side of coffee and spices. It was great for the whole group - from specialty coffee enthusiast to cooking enthusiasts to nature lovers. Best description of history of brew methods with real historical artifacts/examples that I have seen
We spent a very enjoyable 1½ hours at the Mercera Gold Coffee and Chocolate Tour 500 rupees) and it was one of the highlights of our time in the area. The guided walk through the plantation was both relaxing and informative. We learned in detail about the coffee-making process—from plant to cup—and enjoyed sampling several varieties. After the coffee tour, a kind and knowledgeable gentleman explained how chocolate is made from cacao pods. I had no idea that India even grows chocolate plants, so that was a real surprise! The process from pod to finished chocolate is long and very manual, which gave us a whole new appreciation for what goes into each bar. The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, and best of all, not pushy at all when it came to purchases. If you’re in Coorg and interested in coffee, chocolate, or simply a pleasant plantation experience, this tour is well worth your time.
Very knowledgeable and courteous staff who made the whole (including the chocolate) tour a very enjoyable experience. The meal after was super tasty and delicious.
Now the price raised to 350 from 300 (even this wasn't worth it) . I feel the egostic lady sitting there doing entry should understand why people visit here. I think they should give discount of some 200 bucks just because of the attitude that lady shows around like some Queen Elizabeth or something
