We took a private guided tour of Ravenna with Silvia, covering 4 UNESCO World Heritage sites (out of the 8 located in Ravenna) as well as a visit to a mosaic workshop. From our first email exchanges, Silvia clearly explained what was included or not in the tour and offered us the option to adjust it to fit our preferences. She then recommended that we buy tickets for the various sites, specifying the times to choose so that the tour would proceed smoothly. On the day of the visit, she was punctual and began by giving us a brief history of the city to better understand who or what event Ravenna should thank for the construction of so many magnificent sites. These sites are already breathtaking, but her explanations make them extremely more interesting. Silvia is very friendly, her French is excellent, and she knows her city thoroughly. She points out the small details of the mosaics that we might have missed so that we better understand the context in which they were created. The visit to the workshop also allowed us to see artisans at work and the various techniques used. At the end of the visit, she advised us on the places to see based on the time we had left in Ravenna and recommended an excellent seafood restaurant. These 3 hours passed very quickly in pleasant company and in good spirits. We recommend Silvia to anyone who wants to make the most of the city.
Met us at the train station after a 1 hour delay with our train; very understanding of the challenges of train travel in Italy. Very knowledgeable, spoke English very well. She did a great job of maneuvering us around large crowds on a holiday weekend and provided a skip-the-line experience. Brought the beautiful mosaics of Ravenna historical sites to life with detailed stories of the patrons who provided them, in-depth descriptions of their physical creation and the history of the sites throughout time and many changes in rulers.
Silvia gave us the perfect introduction to Ravenna's history, architecture and wonderful mosaics. She is a charming companion and has a huge knowledge and love for Ravenna. Absolutely recommended!
Silvia Giogoli excellent driving! Not only very prepared, but also fluid and pleasant in exposure. Absolutely recommended.
Our visit with Sylvia pleased us a lot....the sites discovered were exceptional....Sylvia is a very good guide...her explanations suited us perfectly...we spent a pleasant afternoon in her company....still a big thank you do not hesitate to contact her....
Delightful, friendly, local guide who made the wonderful mosaics of Ravenna come alive for us. A wealth of local information and historical knowledge imparted in a straightforward helpful manner. We could not have chosen better.
Starting from the end Silvia is VERY GOOD and sunny. Do I recommend a tour led by her? Absolutely! We were a group of 6 people 4 adults a 15-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy. Appointment at 9:30 for a tour of about 3 hours; she punctual. For the tour I had an idea of what to visit but in the end I took advice from her. I bought the tickets for the entrances before coordinating with her for the entrance times. The tour included: Basilica of San Vitale Mausoleum of Galla Placidia Neonian Baptistery Tomb of Dante Basilica of S Apollinare Nuovo. Before starting, he dedicated about twenty minutes for a brief review of history and to explain the origins of the city of Ravenna, fundamental premises to then understand the explanation of the various places that will be visited. She was engaging capturing the attention of both us adults and kids. The three-hour tour flew. Little gem out of the program, he took us to visit a small workshop where they make mosaics. I repeat, you are very good and your fee is fair. The mosaics of the Basilica of San Vitale are something beyond imagination. If you can, rely on a guide to visit these places.
Alternative tour with a fantastic guide! Silvia is extremely prepared and tells the wonders of her city with exceptional professionalism. I recommend his tours!
Wonderful tour of Ravenna with Silvia. Her knowledge and enthusiasm were the best way to see and understand the mosaics.
Silvia guided us in the visit to the mosaics of Ravenna illustrating them with rare skill and showing an unusual knowledge of the history of the sites visited as well as the history of Ravenna itself. We were very satisfied. Sergio and Francesca
