Champs-Élysées di Mechelen: un'ampia via dello shopping con imponenti facciate e uno dei più antichi municipi delle Fiandre. Il nome della via si riferisce alle ringhiere in ferro un tempo poste a fianco di un ruscello medievale dove ormeggiavano le barche da pesca.

Oggi il palazzo funge da palazzo di giustizia della città, ma la sua bella facciata rinascimentale e l'incantevole giardino cortile sono aperti ai visitatori.
Centro culturale di Mechelen, circondato dal Centro Culturale, dall'Accademia di Belle Arti e dal Conservatorio. In estate, il teatro all'aperto, la musica e i concerti di carillon dalla vicina Torre di San Rumboldo danno vita a questa piazza.

Yolanda was our guide, Mechelen born from many generations and knows the city inside out. He gad a wonderful personality and a charisma that would engage and absorb you fully using an ingenious time machine! No secrets shared here, you just have to experience it for yourself.

This tour honestly felt more like a relaxed walk with a knowledgeable local than a formal guided experience, which I really appreciated. Jolan has a very natural way of explaining things — nothing felt scripted or overly rehearsed. Instead of overwhelming you with information, he shares stories and context that actually stick with you. You can tell he knows the history well, but also knows how to make it relatable. There were a few moments where we just paused, looked around, and he pointed out small details or told little anecdotes that made the place feel alive. Those were probably my favorite parts. I also liked that the group dynamic felt easy and informal. You could ask questions at any time without feeling awkward, and the whole experience felt quite personal. If you’re the kind of person who prefers something genuine over something polished and “touristy,” this is a really good choice.
I have been on a walking tour of Mechelen once before. But this one with Jolan made me see Mechelen with new eyes. He has a unique and fun way of taking his guests through the centuries and is able to combine a great story with a lot of good facts. It was a cold wintry day, when we did the tour with him, but there was never a dull moment. His narrative made the tour absolutely worthwhile. This tour with Jolan from Urban Insight is very highly recommended if you really want to get to know the city.
