An unforgettable adventure; however, it was only amplified by our host, Alfredo a.k.a Al Pacino. Alfredo went above and beyond, was able to give us the hospitality of Hawaii along with informative and comprehensive information. I would say the tour was a bit pricey; however with Alfredo made it worth it.
Our tour guide Preston was fantastic. very personable and very knowlegable of the Hawaiian history, culture, every twist and turn in the ride to Haleakala. Strong recommendation for a great travel experience!

My husband and I had an absolutely wonderful time with Alfredo as our guide! We received a text the day before confirming the exact pick up time, we were picked up within the 15 minute window in a nice, air-conditioned van (later realized we had the nicest van of all the tour groups going up the volcano), and were greeted by our guide, Alfredo, who was a warm, welcoming mix of informative, thoughtful, and funny! We were offered ginger chews and tips on the surprisingly easy ride up the mountain, towels to keep us warm (dress in a LOT of thick layers it’s no joke!), and hot cocoa or coffee with a snack after sunrise and a quick visitor center stop. A bathroom break was also offered on the way up and the way down the mountain as well, and we made a quick stop on the way down for photos at the national park sign. We drove off to breakfast at Maui Tropical Plantation, listening to Alfredo’s historical insights and jokes along the way. My only critique is breakfast was very mediocre with dry, overcooked potatoes and eggs. Rate it a 5.5/10. Cute shop here though we stopped at! Overall we were so pleased and would book this tour and with Polynesian Adventures a thousand times over. Just could’ve done without the breakfast.

The sunrise in the morning is amazing, but definitely listen to the advice to dress for cold, windy conditions! It is so much colder up at altitude then down at sea level in Maui, so bring a warm jacket and be mesmerized when the sun comes up (as Mark Twain wrote). Also, the breakfast afterwards was terrific.

Preston at Polynesian Adventure was a phenomenal tour guide and had us laughing most of the trip. He was very knowledgeable and had good recommendations. He prepared us for how to get the most out of the experience before the sunrise and pointed out several scenic spots on the way back down, allowing us to get out and take photos. The breakfast at the plantation was delicious. Overall, it was a great experience!

Preston made the excursion worth it! He loves what he does and takes the time to teach you about different things and gives you plenty of time to enjoy your experience. Sunrise was beautiful, and the Cafe O’Lei food was outstanding. The trip is much more than just watching the sun rise. Worth waking up early in the morning!
