This experience was lots of fun, Sophia made it so. Highly recommend everyone gives this a try with a friend or a group of friends. Recommend transfer option or a taxi to let your hair down and thoroughly enjoy this experience. We walked away with many goodies from the shop afterwards and will continue to spread the word. I would come back and do it all over again next time I visit. (I don’t recommend walking or bus options)

We give this experience a 20/10! Sophia was a delightful and entertaining guide and teacher. The setting was beautiful. We learned about the family history of the distillery and the cocktail class was so much fun with music and dancing. Leave room in your luggage…they have many beautiful options in the Citron boutique to purchase take away. The location is approx 1 mile from town with no convenient bus stop. Will require taxi (we paid €20 each way from Naxos town). If you have time in Naxos we would highly recommend this experience!

If you're looking for a memorable experience in Naxos, put this tour on your list. Sure, there may be other great tours on the island, but this one would be very hard to beat. We were given a wonderful behind-the-scenes look at this historic citron distillery, including the grounds, production areas, and the distillery itself. We even had the chance to get involved and try our hand at pressing citron the traditional way. Then came the highlight: a guided tasting of several citron varieties, liqueurs, and cocktails, all thoughtfully paired with an outstanding selection of local cheeses and charcuterie. And they certainly don't skimp on the portions. Everything was enjoyed on a shaded outdoor patio, with a gentle breeze, beautiful surroundings, and the aromas of the distillery in the air. As fantastic as the tour and tasting were, the true star of the experience was our hostess, Margariti Sofia. She manages the operation and represents the next generation of the family behind the distillery. Warm, witty, knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely passionate about what she does, she brings the entire experience to life. In an age where many tours can feel scripted, Sofia is refreshingly authentic, approachable, and full of energy. By the end of the visit, it felt less like a tour and more like being welcomed into someone's home and family tradition. I felt like I gained a sister, or maybe a daughter! I couldn't recommend this experience more highly. And while you're in Naxos, don't forget to stop by their shop in town as well.

We went to the citron tour with our college aged children. Sophia was a wonderful guide. She gave us the history of the family business as well as guided us through the tastings as they were paired with “snacks” . She was kind enough to ask for allergies among the group as well and made accommodation for those with restrictions . She was witty, energetic, and passionate about the family business. We had a great time and definitely recommend for young adults and older.

My wife and I visited Promponas Distillery in September 2025, and it was the absolute highlight of our time in Naxos. We signed up for the Cocktail Masterclass, led by Sofia, a 4th-generation family member. She began by taking us into the fields to learn about the citron plant, followed by a fascinating tour of the distillery and bottling operations—where we even got to fill our own souvenir bottle. The real fun started with the tasting of their three citron varieties, followed by hands-on lessons in mixing three different citron-based cocktails. Sofia is full of life and made the entire experience engaging and memorable. Naxos is the only island in Greece that produces and sells citron liqueur, and visiting Promponas should be on everyone’s itinerary. In fact, while on a separate tour in Santorini, we recommended it to a honeymoon couple who was heading to Naxos next, and later they texted us to say how much they loved the class too. 10/10—an unforgettable experience and a must-visit!

2nd time and it only gets better! We’ve brought 2 couples on separate trips and they both loved it. Sofia is the quintessential host and her enthusiasm is not to be missed. Oh, and the Kitron is wonderful! Planning to go again next year as this is a Naxos must do.

This is a must do in Naxos. The way that Sofia shared her family and Kitpon history made you feel like you were a part of their family. The process of harvesting, making, and bottling the liqueur was amazing to see. Everyone was so nice and the entire tour was both fun and delicious. Sofia was a gem, and I can’t recommend doing this enough. She had us laughing, dancing, and learning! You will want to spend all day there sipping on Kitpon and enjoying your time there.

Beautiful place, amazing history (130 years+), great time to perform cocktails and enjoy those nice "citrons" (leaves). I recommend for people who likes to discover new things and spend a good time drinking cocktails and also dancing (optional though :-))

It was an amazing and fun tour! Very educational and a chill vibe. Would definitely want to come back. Our tour guide was awesome and funny ans the drinks we made all tasted great
