Our tour was conducted by Mamuka, who is an excellent driver and an excellent guide. Unfortunately, we got rain in the middle of the day and that ended up making it impossible to do the Okatse Canyon. So we only made the Martvili Canyon and the Prometheus Cave. Even so, it paid off a lot, since the two attractions are absolutely unavoidable. The experience was unforgettable!
Even our driver reiterated, that this is more of a "ride" then a "tour". But our driver Mamouka was kind, entertaining and informative, and if you have any questions about Georgia, he will answer them. He brought us a bottle of wine and bought us some local sauces and stopped for food and toilet. The round-trip journey is quite long, and since you leave Tbilisi so late, it is really not possible to see Okatse, if you are already visiting the Caves and Martvili. In Okatse, even if you just want to see the famous panorama/walkway, you either have to hike about 3 hours or hire a jeep for 100 Lari I think it was, to take you part of the way, and even then you STILL need to hike a little ways. And visiting the falls I was told takes even longer, so you need to devote several hours to visit this place. I think 9:00 departure for this tour is too late, as by the time you get to the caves, it's already afternoon. The Promethius Cave and Martvili Canyon are possible to see in the same day though. The cave tour (which is conducted by the cave's own guides), was very rushed though. What in the US would've been at minimum a 1.5 hour tour, was done in under an hour. The cave was very hot and humid. If you're not taking the boat, you need to take a bus back to parking lot and there was no sign of the driver or anyone to tell us if we're allowed to board. We were also told to wait OUTSIDE after purchasing our tour tickets. I don't understand why we couldn't wait inside the visitor center. Martvili was very nice, but I recommend doing the boat ride, otherwise, it's not really worth the entry fee. Apparently there are some bridges you can get to, over where the boats sail, but there were no maps to indicate where the trails lead. I felt the entry fee was a little expensive, so if you aren't planning to do the boat ride, maybe opt for another stop. I think for a private tour, the price was very good, and at Martvili, it was nice not being rushed or having to be at the mercy of someone else's schedule.
The whole experience was amazing! A full day trip with three locations - Prometheus caves, Okatse and Martvili. Our driver Mumaka was very friendly! He contacted us to decide time and location and made us feel secure and comfortable! Really recommend this tour in Georgia!
the driver did not appear. he also did not answer the phone, the money was taken from my account. your company does not want to return the money. you are frauds
The whole experience was unforgettable. We spent 3 amazing days with Mamuka, visiting canyons, Kazbegi and Kakheti. Mamuka and his wife also invited us over to a Georgian dinner at their house. Would definitely recommend and visi them once again!!
We had very friendly driver - George who helped us navigate the place. It was snowing entire day & it added to beauty of Okatse. Unfortunately martvilli and promethus was closed due to heavy snowfall but our overall ride was amazing. Will recommend to visit this place during summers.
Really it was excellent trip conducted by George very long 14 hrs to fro trip but worth seeing porthemus caves and canyons
One good thing about this tour is that they contacted us via whats app as soon as we made the payment online , to inform us about our pick up time and location and this made us feel very secured and comfortable about our upcoming tour before we even reached Tbilisi. However, This tour seems too good to be true, to a prospective tourist who is planning a visit to the caves and canyons of Georgia, but dont get fooled. Even though it is mentioned , stop at Prometheus Cave, Sataplia Cave, Okatse Canyon, Martvili Canyon, it is not possible to stop at all of these four locations in one day unless you are visiting out of Kutaisi which is closer to these locations. If you are visiting the caves and canyons out of Tbilisi, you will need minimum 4 hours drive one way to reach the first stop – Prometheus caves, and once the tour is done, you will need minimum 4 hours drive back to Tbilisi, so it is not possible to visit all four in one day as it is advertised on this tour itinerary. Nowhere it is written, This or That. / Either OR…. It says Stop at Prometheus , Sataplia, Okatse and Martivili.. This needs to be corrected or re-scripted, rather than misleading people. In the end we were only able to see two of these sites, which is Prometheus caves and Martvili Canyon. Okatse Canyon was closed by the time we reached there. The only good thing that happened on this trip was the driver – Rezo, Mamuka – He was very professional , jovial and cheerful and chatty guy, he made the 4 hour long drive feel like, time just flew by . I told Rezo, the car provided was not even worth for the amount we paid online , it was an old beat down Honda, there was not enough leg room to stretch for the long drive, he was kind enough to pull the passenger seat forward which was across from him which so as to give me some extra leg space but my friend still had not much leg room because she was sitting behind the driver seat, and as much as he wanted to help he couldn’t do much about it. Rezo is a very empathetic person, he even stopped at the gas station to get us pringles to cheer us up. However true to their word, we did get a bottle of lovely home-made red wine, free bottles of water with disposable cups and a very charming and funny, heartwarming driver – Rezo. Because of our bad experience the tour company offered to give us a tour around the city for free on another day, but like most tourists we had covered the city tour on the first day of our arrival , however it was kind of them
Thank you so much for detailed information. We corrected itinerary, to prevent these kind of situations from happening again. We will also keep a closer eye on transportation in future. We are extremely sorry for the vehicle. Thank you so much for the positive comments as well. I hope you enjoyed your stay in Georgia. Hope you will visit again. All the best wishes!
