Si tratta di un cimitero reale, con tombe squisitamente decorate per i faraoni che governarono l'Egitto tra il 1539 e il 1075 a.C. il Tempio della regina Hatshepsut, conosciuto come El Dir El Bahari, costruito dalla regina Hatshepsut, figlia di Thutmosis I, che governò l'Egitto per circa 20 anni durante la XVIII dinastia (circa 1490-1469 a.C.), l'unica donna faraonica che regnò sull'antico Egitto . Il Tempio di Hatshepsut non è solo un tempio commemorativo in onore della regina Hatshepsut, è anche una delle più grandi realizzazioni architettoniche egiziane. Progettato da Senenmut (amministratore e architetto di Hatshepsut), questo tempio funerario ricorda da vicino l'architettura classica greca di 1.000 anni dopo. La tomba di Tutankhamon, conosciuta anche con il numero della tomba, KV62, è il luogo di sepoltura di Tutankhamon (regnò dal 1332 al 1323 a.C. circa), un faraone della diciottesima dinastia dell'antico Egitto, nella Valle dei Re. La tomba è composta da quattro camere e una scala d'ingresso e un corridoio. È più piccola e meno decorata rispetto ad altre tombe reali egiziane del suo tempo, e probabilmente ebbe origine come tomba per un individuo non reale che fu adattata per l'uso di Tutankhamon dopo la sua morte prematura. I Colossi di Memnon (noti anche come el-Colossat o el-Salamat) sono due statue monumentali che rappresentano Amenhotep III (1386-1353 a.C.) della XVIII dinastia egizia. Si trovano a ovest della moderna città di Luxor e sono rivolti a est guardando verso il fiume Nilo. Le statue raffigurano il re seduto su un trono ornato con immagini di sua madre, sua moglie, il dio Hapy e altre incisioni simboliche. Le figure sono alte 60 piedi (18 metri) e pesano 720 tonnellate ciascuna; entrambi scolpiti da singoli blocchi di arenaria.

Tempio di Karnak, il più grande esempio di culto della storia, dedicato al dio Amon, a sua moglie Mut e al figlio Khonsu. Il complesso del tempio di Karnak, comunemente noto come Karnak, comprende un vasto mix di templi, piloni, cappelle e altri edifici vicino a Luxor, in Egitto. Our trip to Luxor was a truly unforgettable experience. From the hotel we were picked up in an air-conditioned private vehicle and started with a visit to the Valley of the Kings. Our guide, Hany, was incredibly knowledgeable and explained everything about Egyptian history and the pharaohs. The temple of Queen Hatshepsut was impressive, and the Colossi of Memnon were very impressive. At the end of the day we visited the Karnak Temple and the Luxor Temple. This tour is a must for anyone interested in history and archaeology!

This tour was an absolute 10/10 which was mostly do in part to our tour guide Waleed. He was super informative, patient, & kind! I learned so much from him.
