Il pittoresco Borjomi Una strada attraverso una gola di straordinaria bellezza ti condurrà a Borjomi: camminerai per il centro della città, visiterai un parco dove l'imperatore Nicola II e la sua famiglia riposano ogni anno, vedrai un monumento a Prometeo e una graziosa cascata, e salirai anche sul cavo auto per l'altopiano dal quale si aprono splendide viste sui dintorni. Ovviamente parleremo della famosa “acqua minerale”, che viene estratta nell'omonima valle situata nel territorio del Parco Nazionale Borjomi-Kharagauli. Vi racconterò i risultati degli scavi archeologici che fanno luce sulla storia dell'acqua minerale locale, e proprio dalla sorgente potrete degustare l'acqua famosa in tutto il mondo.
Fortezza medievale Rabat Conoscerai uno dei monumenti più espressivi e colorati della Georgia, assorbendo letteralmente l'energia di entrambe le culture: la fortezza era il punto di transito più importante tra il mondo cristiano e quello musulmano. Esaminerai le sale del palazzo, decorate nell'antico stile georgiano, e le dimensioni impressionanti della fortezza stessa e la ricchezza delle decorazioni non dovrebbero lasciarti indifferente. Ti parlerò della fondazione di Rabat, del suo nome e spiegherò il significato di Akhaltsikhe nella storia della Georgia.
Grotta Vardzia L'antico complesso di Vardzia non è solo scavato nella roccia. Questa fortezza rupestre è un monastero costruito non lontano da Tbilisi nel XII secolo. La straordinaria città ha 13 livelli e più di 500 stanze: chiese, cappelle, celle residenziali, dispense, terme, refettori, tesori, biblioteche. Le stanze scendono a 50 metri di profondità e salgono ad un'altezza di otto piani, inoltre sono conservati passaggi segreti che collegavano i locali, i resti dell'acquedotto e dell'impianto di irrigazione. Durante il tour esplorerai ogni angolo di Vardzia e scoprirai quale scopo è stata costruita la città rupestre e quali funzioni ha svolto nel corso della storia della sua esistenza. E sulla strada per l'antico complesso vedrai un meraviglioso panorama della fortezza di Khertvisi perfettamente conservata.

We had a wonderful trip today to Borjomi, Rabati Castle, and the Vardzia Caves. It was such an enjoyable experience where we learned a lot about the history of Georgia, thanks to our amazing guide Katy, who was incredibly kind and knowledgeable. Well organized. Your tour guide was well informed and communicated well - would’ve have been better if they separated the groups based language - the constant switch between English and Russian meant some things were missed in the moment. Lots more driving than sightseeing but it’s understandable given the distance from Tbilisi.
