Il tour escursionistico di Umoljani e Lukomir sul monte Bjelasnica è semplicemente da vedere e vivere il viaggio per ogni vero amante della natura, se mai si incontra Sarajevo e la Bosnia ed Erzegovina. Panorami mozzafiato sul canyon Rakitnica, paesaggi mozzafiato della montagna di Bjelasnica, vita alla vita nel più remoto villaggio nomade bosniaco, storia unica e cultura delle comunità locali, un po 'di mitologia e molto altro in un posto unico in Bosnia Erzegovina.

Stiamo passando per le famose piste da sci olimpico invernale del 1984 sul monte Bjelašnica.
Impareremo la storia del perché la moschea Umoljani fu l'unica moschea che non fu bruciata o distrutta dall'esercito della Repubblica di Srpska, su tutto il territorio della Bosnia Erzegovina che controllavano durante l'aggressione del 1992-1995 alla Bosnia-Erzegovina.
Piacevole escursione di 3 ore al villaggio di Umoljani attraverso il fiume Canyong del Rakitnica e incredibili esplorazioni della cascata di Peruce, Studeni Potok come una delle valli più belle di tutta la Bosnia ed Erzegovina e la storia del "drago di Umoljani". Alla fine della giornata faremo circa 7-8 ore di escursione, che sicuramente varrà la pena. Il villaggio di Umoljani è conosciuto principalmente per alcune cose: Stoned Dragon, Mosque e Sarajevo Haggadah e Studeni Potok (Cold Creek). Una volta giunti a Umoljani, preparatevi per un pranzo locale davvero sorprendente: Begova Corba (stufato locale), Krompiruša (torta fatta di patate) o Sirnica (formaggio fatto) e Burek (carne fatta), con ancora yogurt locale e salat. Niente al mondo lo batte.
Quando lasceremo la nostra auto al villaggio di Umoljani inizieremo la nostra escursione, in un modo di circa 3-4 ore, per raggiungere il villaggio di Lukomir. Il sentiero ci porterà dal punto di partenza di circa 1275 metri (Umoljani) al picco di Obalj a circa 1896 metri con oltre 620 metri di dislivello. Tutto questo lavoro pesante pagherà una volta in cima, visto che le vedute di Studeni Potok lungo il percorso, il canyon Rakitnica e le montagne di Treskavica, Visocica e l'ultima vetta del monte Bjelasnica con numerosi piccoli villaggi in lontananza saranno semplicemente sbalorditivi. Dopo un po 'di riposo e il godimento a tempo pieno del corpo e dello spirito, siamo pronti per fare un'escursione al villaggio di Lukomir ad un'altitudine di 1500 che sarà anche una storia "unica nel suo genere". Una volta lì andiamo per un meritato riposo, con un caffè locale e anche del cibo. Si prega di notare che, a seconda del periodo dell'anno, possiamo avere la fortuna di avere campi di bluberries, rose-hip, certi tipi di funghi, timo o altre specie di piante intorno a noi sono libere di raccogliere. Lukomir è la più alta e la maggior parte dell'anno è abitata (tranne che negli ultimi anni, durante la stagione invernale pesante in cui i locali lasciano il villaggio fino all'inizio della primavera) e il villaggio nomade più isolato in Bosnia-Erzegovina.
Parte dell'escursione sarà attraverso lo straordinario Studeni Potok (Cold Creek) sul monte Bjelašnica.

This hike was incredible. It was very challenging, especially the first half, because you are climbing straight up a mountain to the summit and then down the other side, but the views.. oh, the views! The village of Lukomir was really cool to experience as well, and we had a fantastic lunch made by one of the locals with local ingredients. This is probably my favorite thing we’ve ever done on vacation. Book this tour!
This was a great fun and challenging hike, we went to the top of the mountain above Lukomir! The photos I got were crazy good!!! If your fitness is good, you should do it!
Pictures just won’t do justice! I have always wanted to go up to Lukomir after my first trip to Bosnia in 2019. Sadly I never had gotten to visit Lukomir in 2021. But in life we must be grateful with the experiences we get. The downs always make you look forward to coming back and making sure that you do it and I did it! I finally got the chance to get some good hiking experience in. This will help me with future hikes on different peaks. I loved Lukomir, it so much resembled the village of Theth in Albania, where semi nomads live high up in altitude, like agro tourism. It gives us a sense of how certain tribes and families lived up in the mountains during the past. Tariq was a decent guide in that he explained a little about the lifestyle of these nomadic groups and how long they were living up in the mountains. Tariq also helped us by giving us hiking tips to Obalj- a steep hill climb after a heavy lunch and quicker decent back down through rocky terrain- much helpful to me in future hikes. I enjoyed the company of another British family visiting bosnia and learnt a lot from them as they were interested in the former Yugoslavia and they’re son was into the outdoors just like me. The driver also joined us on the hike and made sure we do not get lost on trail. Overall a good way to end the trip.
We have just completed the hiking tour to Lukomir village and I can highly recommend it if you want to see and understand the traditional Bosnian culture and see some amazing scenery then this is a great trip. It is a challenging hike but we had an excellent guide and felt we were in safe hand. During the hike you stop at one breathtaking view after another the scenery is truly amazing. The Lukomir village is not undiscovered but was a lovely place for a lunch stop of good traditional food. If you are looking for tours whilst in Bosnia then book with Funky Tours as in my experience then you couldn’t be in safety hands.

The hike to Lukomir is more difficult than stated. Sturdy hiking boots and poles are helpful. If you are an inexperienced hiker this may not be the trip for you. If you are, you will see the most gorgeous views. Our guide Harm was a delight and our group bonded over the hours together. We never made it to the back 9 km of the hike because it took hours to do the first 10 km. With that said, I am delighted to have done the hike and would recommend it only to people that understand that the hike is physically grueling at times. Also thought we were having lunch with the Nomads and would learn about their customs. This was not the case we ate at their restaurant. They could not have been more gracious.
We booked onto the 1 day trip to Lukomir with pick up and return to Sarajevo. Communication from both Edna and Ema prior to the trip was efficient and speedy. Our guide Elvira was spot on time for the pick up and we had a great trip. It turned out to be only myself and my brother on the tour (we did a Monday). The drive to the start point of the walk was only around 1 hour from Sarajevo, so not far at all. The walk was around 10 miles there and back. A great walk, not too challenging but more than enough to feel as though you've done a good days exercise! The views were spectacular. Elvira was a good guide and gave us some local history along the way and was very friendly. It was handy having lunch included in Lukomir. It was also a nice touch to receive a follow up email from Amela a couple of days later to check how we'd enjoyed the trip. Throughout the whole process, communication from the team was efficient and they seemed very passionate about providing a good & memorable experience for their guests. We did 2 weeks touring the country independently and were seriously impressed with what we found. Bosnia and Herzegovina has a great deal to offer from a tourism point of view, and if you're in Sarajevo - be sure to book an extra day and take this tour!

I did hiking to Lukomir with Funky tour and it was the best hiking tour ever! I cannot recommend Funky Tours enough, because these guys are simply the best. Started from very welcoming communications with Edna (who was extremely nice, helpful and friendly) and of course the best tour guides: Tarik and Stefan. Well everything was memorable, the views, the lunch and the sore feet afterwards. We had a great group and we supported each other throughout the day. It is an epic trek and you have to be fit to complete the hike. Elvira was our guide and was great.
