Lukomir si trova a 1.469 metri sul livello del mare, ai margini del Canyon Rakitnica, il canyon fluviale più profondo e incontaminato dei Balcani occidentali e una delle destinazioni escursionistiche più spettacolari di tutta Europa. Questa escursione di un'intera giornata in piccoli gruppi da Sarajevo ti porta al villaggio permanentemente abitato più alto della Bosnia, dove le case in pietra, l'abito tradizionale e i pastori che attraversano l'altopiano sono rimasti invariati per secoli. Il percorso segue il bordo del canyon attraverso l'altopiano di Bjelašnica - vista aperta sulle montagne, aria pulita e un silenzio che pochissimi viaggiatori raggiungono mai. L'escursione è di difficoltà moderata, adatta a chiunque sia in buone condizioni fisiche con scarpe da trail comode. Nessuna esperienza tecnica richiesta. This was a wonderful hike with beautiful views of mountain meadows with wildflowers, forest and the canyon below. Along the way we met a shepherd from Lukomir watching over her flock. Afterwards I enjoyed a delicious meal in the home of one of the Lukomir families. And talking with the hike guide gave me additional insight into life in Bosnia. Overall it was a great experience and an interesting break from the normal sightseeing.

We completed the Lukomir Village Hiking Tour today and it was an amazing trip. Almedin, from Tallest Tourguide Tours, accompanied us. The team: Almedin, our hiking guide Hedija, and driver were an absolute pleasure to be around. They were friendly, answered all our questions and provided great information. Our entire family enjoyed the hike, visiting the village and lunch. The tour started with a 2 to 2.5 hour hike to Lukomir. The scenery was spectacular and it was a refreshing break from the city. We then had a wonderful lunch in town, followed by a tour of the traditional village (with cute chickens, sheep, dogs, etc.). The people in the town were very friendly as well. I would definitely recommend this tour specifically and Almedin & Tallest Tour Guide in general to anyone visiting Sarajevo.
