Sebbene la presenza umana in questa regione risalga alla preistoria, fu durante il Medioevo che gli insediamenti permanenti iniziarono a modellare il territorio. Oggi, 27 villaggi storici formano la rinomata rete dei villaggi Schist... e in questo tour esploreremo due delle sue gemme più pittoresche: Candal e Talasnal. Entrambi i villaggi conservano la tradizionale architettura in pietra di molti secoli fa e sono immersi nello splendido paesaggio della catena montuosa di Lousã, a breve distanza in auto da Coimbra. Le loro strade acciottolate, il paesaggio montano e l'atmosfera senza tempo rendono questa visita un passo indietro nel tempo davvero memorabile.

Talasnal è uno dei villaggi sciistici meglio conservati, con piccole aziende locali dove possiamo fermarci per scoprire i prodotti tradizionali... e anche assaggiarne alcuni! Gironzoleremo tra le sue tortuose stradine acciottolate e godremo della vista mozzafiato sulla valle, dove un antico castello un tempo sorvegliava il paesaggio, e verso le cime delle montagne all'orizzonte.
Attraverseremo il villaggio di Candal e faremo una sosta per vagare per le sue strade acciottolate, circondati da case di scisto incontaminate e paesaggi di montagna mozzafiato. Qui subentra il silenzio, rotto solo dal rumore dell’acqua corrente, creando una fuga pacifica nella natura. Una sosta che offre il tipo di momento che i viaggiatori ricordano molto tempo dopo la fine del viaggio.

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of taking a day tour through the charming Schist villages outside Coimbra with Sara and were delighted as we learned so much about this ancient region. As a native of Coimbra and all things Portugal, her love for this wonderful scenic region is unparalleled. Sara is patient, engaging, and a real story teller. The day simply flew by and we saw so much of the region, and the villages of Talasnal and Candal, topped off with an unforgettable lunch at O Burgo in Lousã.
