Combinando sia il nostro tour Outlander che il nostro Loch Ness Tour con guide locali delle Highlands viaggiamo da Invergordon lungo la riva del Cromarty Firth e ci dirigiamo verso Beauly, fermandoci al Robertsons Farm Shop per vedere alcuni Highland Coos . Proseguiamo per Beauly Priory, il monastero del XIII secolo costruito per un ordine di monaci valliscauliani. Il Priorato era un antico cimitero per i Clan Fraser e Mackenzie ed è apparso in Outlander. Lasciandoci Beauly alle spalle proseguiamo sulla collina di Culnakirk fino a Drumnadrochit e visitiamo il castello di Urquhart che si trova su un promontorio proteso verso Loch Ness , la vista del Loch è fantastica da qui ed è stato qui vicino dove si dice che San Colomba abbia visto il mostro di Loch Ness . Ci dirigiamo quindi verso Inverness dove avrai l'opportunità di visitare la nuova esperienza del Castello di Inverness, pranzare e vedere un po 'del centro della città prima di viaggiare verso Clava Cairns e Culloden Battlefield prima di riportarti al porto.

Sulla strada per Beauly ci fermiamo al Robertsons Farm Shop di Beauly dove vedremo alcuni magnifici Highland Coos, tra cui uno splendido Toro Nero chiamato Jamie Mackenzie Fraser in onore dell'Eroe Outlander.
Il Priorato di Beauly fu fondato nel XIII secolo come monastero per l'ordine dei monaci valliscauliani di Digione in Francia, le forze di Oliver Cromwells furono responsabili della distruzione del Priorato nel XVI secolo. Per secoli questo è stato un luogo di sepoltura per i capi del clan Fraser e Mackenzie e le loro famiglie. La loro è una connessione Outlander perché è stato qui che Claire ha incontrato il Veggente.
Il castello di Urquhart si trova su un promontorio che si protende verso Loch Ness ed è stato combattuto molte volte nel corso degli anni. I panorami di Loch Ness dal castello sono fantastici e durante la visita puoi andare ad esplorare le rovine di questo castello di 1000 anni e puoi scendere al lato dell'acqua di Loch Ness. Tieni gli occhi aperti nel caso in cui Nessie faccia la sua comparsa.
Inverness è conosciuta come la capitale delle Highlands. Ci fermiamo a Inverness e visitiamo la Old High Church dove i prigionieri giacobiti furono giustiziati dopo la battaglia e vedrete segni di palle di moschetto sul muro della torre dove ebbero luogo le esecuzioni. Avrai anche l'opportunità di visitare la più recente attrazione turistica in Scozia - il Castello di Inverness dove potrai anche pranzare e vedere alcuni di questa città storica.
Visiteremo Clava Cairns e potrai entrare in 2 dei 3 Cairns, questo cimitero dell'età del bronzo di 4000 anni è il luogo in cui Diana Gabaldon ha preso ispirazione per la sua serie di Outlander e vedrai la pietra spaccata e i cerchi di pietre intorno ai Cairns.
La battaglia di Culloden del 1746 fu l'ultima battaglia combattuta sul suolo britannico. Passeggiamo per le principali aree del Campo di Battaglia dove si sono svolti i combattimenti più pesanti e la nostra Guida vi racconterà dei Giacobiti e della battaglia, vedrete il cairn commemorativo, il pozzo dei morti e le lapidi dei clan, nonché il cottage Leanach. Questa visita è in cima alla lista per i fan di Outlander.

Taking this private tour was a great decision. Lawrence, our driver and guide for the day, was excellent, taking great care of us, making sure we got into the venues, castles, etc. not just dropping us off in the parking lot. Professional, he shared his knowledge and history of the area. Schedule was flexible, so we were able to spend a little more time in Inverness. Met us at the Invergordon cruise port and returned us on time. Would book again!

Lawrence was very accommodating to customizing our tour. Was a WONDERFUL time! He took in to account our preferences, and even did a little research on family backgrounds and clan affiliation. It was my best 60th birthday so far.

Billy was the absolute best tour guide! Our group had a wonderful time! He was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about all of our stops! Every stop on the tour was amazing! My favorite was the Cawdor Castle and Gardens!

Our tour guide, Kevin, showed us the grandeur of Lochness, the exquisite gardens of Cawdor Castle, an old Stonehenge like ruin, called Balnuaren of Clava, the site of the Battle of Culloden, a visit to see the "hurry coos" (hairy cows) and lunch at a fantastic local eatery. We were in a caravan of three cars snd all the hosts were accommodating. They also provided us with tasty local snacks and water. Thank you for sharing your beautiful homeland with us! We visited so many places but did not feel rushed.

Billy met us at the port of Invergordon, on time and ready to show us Scotland. I had a few key places I wanted to see, Loch Ness, Urquhart Castle, Battle of Culloden and Clava Cairns. Billy made many more stops and I was very impressed with his knowledge. I truly appreciate the extra effort and time to show us as much as he could. We had a short stop in Canterbury and Billy recommended a lovely lunch cafe. This tour went beyond my expectations. At the end of the tour, he gifted us with some lovely Tea cakes. I highly recommend Highlander Private Tours. The cost shadows with the experience, time, and memories.
I would recommend this tour to anyone coming off a cruise ship and has a day to spend in the area. Billy Maclean was our tour guide and took very good care of us. He was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed our day with him. He was very flexible given we docked late and was able to fit everything in we wanted to do.

I enjoyed my trip to Inverness very much. The driver showed us many different sightseeing attractions and told us something about the history. As an "Outlander-fan" the driver took us for instance to the locations the author Diana Gabaldon got her ideas from. I thank you Billie very much for this unusual experience. I like to think back on this journey.
