La nostra prima tappa sarà ai cairn di Clava. Clava Cairns è un complesso cimitero ben conservato di tombe di passaggio dell'età del bronzo; anelli per ringhiere, cordoli per marciapiedi e pietre erette in una splendida cornice. Clava Cairns o la Preistoria Sepoltura Cairns di Bulnuaran di Clava sono un gruppo di tre tumuli dell'età del bronzo situati vicino a Inverness. Sito preistorico estremamente significativo ed eccezionalmente ben conservato, Clava Cairns è un fantastico esempio della lontana storia delle Highland scozzesi, risalente a circa 4.000 anni fa.
La nostra seconda tappa... è una visita al sito potentemente commovente della Rivolta Giacobita finale – l’ultima e più straziante battaglia campale combattuta sul suolo britannico tra un esercito giacobita e le forze governative. Esplora il centro visitatori interattivo, visualizza affascinanti manufatti da entrambi i lati del confronto e vivi la battaglia nel coinvolgente cinema surround. Il 16 aprile 1746, l'ultima rivolta giacobita raggiunse un picco brutale. I sostenitori giacobiti, cercando di ripristinare la monarchia Stuart sui troni britannici, si riunirono per combattere le truppe governative del duca di Cumberland.
Viaggeremo lungo la riva del Loch ness verso Drumnadrochit da Inverness, fermandoci ovviamente per una o due foto. Forse anche Nessie si unirà a noi :)
Great Glen è la distilleria artigianale più nuova e, orgogliosamente, più piccola della Scozia. Sfruttando gli elementi di un luogo selvaggio, questo gin morbido e terroso è la loro lettera d'amore alla natura... quindi fermiamoci e facciamo un piccolo assaggio. ATTENZIONE: la distilleria è chiusa dal 1 dicembre ad aprile 2024. Tuttavia, le degustazioni di gin sono ancora possibili nel negozio di fronte alla distilleria.
Il bellissimo castello è meglio visto e fotografato da lontano. È un castello pieno di bellezze naturali selvagge e 1.000 anni di storia: il castello di Urquhart offre un assaggio delle Highlands nella loro forma più drammatica.

Best tour ever! Sara, our tour guide, was extremely knowledgeable providing us with so much information and history at each location as well as on our travels throughout the day. Sarah was very accommodating, making the tour very personal for us. She was fun, interesting and a pleasure to be with for the day. She left us with a lifetime memory.
We had an amazing day with George, the most experienced Scottish tour guide ever! He informed us of so many important and interesting facts about Scotland and its history and the highlands. We were blown away with his candor and ability to be both informative but make it a fun day for everyone! This tour was with my husband and two other couples. I highly recommend (especially if you’re an outlander fan like me).
Amazing tour. We have travelled all over the world and this may have been our favorite tour ever. George is a true Scotsman and knew Outlander inside and out. He took us to Culloden and also to the stones at Crava. We discussed Outlander and Scottish history. In addition we saw Loch Ness (but no monster was seen) and he took us to see and feed beautiful Clydesdale horses. We saw a spectacular Castle and did a tour of the beautiful gardens there. Overall, we couldn’t have asked for a better guide and it was a fantastic way to spend our day while staying in Inverness.
We had a great experience from this trip, thanks to Alastair who has rich knowledge about the history of these places and, in general, about Scotland and UK. Thank Alastair and George as well for arranging the time effectively with great care.

Ask for George Murray, he was the best guide we had on our trip. He even took us to an extra stop. So very interesting.
Excellent tour guide, George, knowledgeable, humorous and very nice. We saw “Craig na Dun” and Culloden including the Fraser Clan stone, the battlefield, monument and the museum. We stopped to see some beautiful horses and toured Cawdor Castle which is beautiful. I recommend this highly! Go Highlander can be booked directly on their website.
Our guide, Sarah, was excellent! Her knowledge of the area was extensive, and she shared information in a way that was both engaging and informative. She was clearly passionate about the history and sights we visited, which made the experience even more enjoyable. My only criticism concerns the ticket pricing. Given the cost of the tour, I was a bit surprised to learn that admission to the castle and the battlefield museum required additional fees. In fairness, I may have overlooked the details when booking, but I had assumed the tour was all-inclusive except for lunch. It would be helpful if those extra costs were highlighted more prominently during the booking process so guests know exactly what to expect. Overall, Sarah did an outstanding job, and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour.
Dress for every kind of weather as it can change quickly. There are lots of opportunities to learn about Highland culture which we really appreciated.Our guide George was a fantastic with so much valuable knowledge. He really made sure we had a great experience.
