Lares Trek to Machu Picchu 4D / 3N comprese le sorgenti termali

Our trip with SAM Travel Peru was in two parts: a three-day private Lares trek, followed by a privately guided Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Both halves were exceptional, but it was how the company handled a difficult situation that really stood out. Our guide for the Lares trek, Cesar, was extremely attentive to our energy levels and breathing at high altitude. He adjusted his pace to ours and was quick to notice when we needed rest. On a genuinely difficult hike at elevation, he was encouraging without being pushy. Partway through, my husband developed serious altitude illness. I thought the rest of our trip might have to be canceled. Instead, Cesar got him to lower elevation in Ollantaytambo a day early, then continued guiding us through the local archaeological sites there. Switching plans mid-trip meant a lot of logistics had to shift too, but Cesar and the SAM Travel team handled it all with flexibility and kindness, and still made sure we had an amazing trip. If you're on the fence wondering "but what if something goes wrong?", know that you'll be taken care of no matter what happens. The trek crew also deserves credit. They set up camp each day, including a dining tent where we ate all our meals and even had afternoon tea. Despite being out in the mountains, we were consistently comfortable and having more delicious food than we've ever had while camping and hiking. This exceeded our expectations. For the second half of our trip, Cristian guided us on the Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. His English was excellent, which made navigating train rides and hotel check-ins seamless. He was knowledgeable about Incan history as well as the plants and birds along the trail, and he was genuinely fun to be around. He paced the hike to our ability level with no pressure, and managed a long list of logistics (drivers, trains, luggage transfers, Machu Picchu permits) without a hitch. Between the two halves of this trip, SAM Travel Peru proved they can deliver an outstanding experience even when things don't go according to plan. Highly recommend.

Joel and Lucio were our pillars during the trekking days. Lucio cooked impeccably for 4 consecutive days, always offering us different dishes and having no issues with me being vegetarian. There are no words to describe Joel: he is a knowledgeable and attentive guide, but above all, a sweet and accommodating person. He followed our pace during the hikes and managed to make an already unique experience even more special. A special mention also goes to Micaela and Valentin. We will definitely see each other again.

We haven’t begun the full hike yet but yesterday we did travel to a variety of Inca sites as well as take the ATV tour. Our guide Fredy Zapata Condori was absolutely amazing, he was very knowledgeable and made an already great trip all the more better! As well as the driver Fabio

From start to finish the experience was exceptional. Nicole in the office was so quick to give us advice then our guide Edwin Arqque was so knowledgeable and helpful. He was so flexible and kind especially when one of us got altitude sickness. Moises and his wife Magdalena provided the most amazing food with minimum equipment. The scenery was worth the exhausting climb. We loved staying in the villages and feeling like part of the community. I would recommend Sam Travel to everyone!

Edwin Arqque was our fabuloso guide for 3 N/ 4 D Lares Trek! So incredibly knowledgeable, helpful and inspiring! The cooks Moises & his wife Magdalena prepared the most delicious & varied meals for us during the entire trip. Valentin took care of the mules & transported all the tents, cooking equipment, food & our gear up and over the 4000m Pachacutec Pass!! What an amazing experience! We did the 4d, 3 night Lares trek with Sam Travel Peru. Exceeded all expectations. It was harder than I anticipated because of the altitude but the wonderful guide, Israel, took great care of us, adjusting the pace and giving us breaks to catch our breath. We did summit a pass at over 15,400 feet! Finishing with a great day at Machu Picchu! Alpacas and llamas everywhere, plus chinchillas and other wildlife. Great views of mountains, valleys, lakes and waterfalls. But the highlight was the incredible staff, led by Israel. The amazing chef and crew chief Lucio made us amazing local food , assisted by Mikhela, Jaimi and José. They worked so hard to make our experience top notch. Including setting up tents and serving coca tea at 4:45 am so we have time to summit! Plus a stop on the hot springs 🙂 I would 100% recommend Sam Travel and you should ask for Israel. He is fantastic. Five stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

SAM travel did not prepare us for how difficult this trek is. It is extremely hard. Despite that, Julio, our guide, made it a memorable and magical experience. He was so patient, answered every question, and kept us calm, cool, and collected - even in the moments we though we couldn’t take one more step. He is also extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife and the spiritual significance of the land. Go with Julio, you will have the best time with Peru’s best tour guide!

We just finished the Salkantay Trek 5 days / 4 nights with SAM TRAVEL, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish! A huge thank you to our guide Caesar, who was amazing: professional, attentive, motivating and always in a good mood. He made this adventure even more memorable. Even before departure, the agency was very responsive and professional in all responses to our requests and questions during the preparation of the trip. The organization was clear, fast and reassuring. The service on site was impeccable: all transport, transfers and activities were perfectly organized. We had nothing to worry about. A chef prepared delicious and varied meals every day, even in the mountains! The accommodations were of high quality, comfortable and with all the necessary amenities after long days of walking.
