L'unicità e la specificità di questo circuito risiede in tre aspetti: oltre a camminare nel luogo più basso dell'Africa, durante questa escursione scoprirai la pratica ancestrale della carovana del sale delle tribù Afar e sarai anche immerso nella cultura locale. infine e soprattutto, anche ad occhio nudo all'aria aperta, il distacco sulle placche tettoniche, fenomeno geologico unico al mondo.

Itinerario
Sulla strada per raggiungere il lago ASSAL, passeremo dalla città di ARTA dove c'è un punto panoramico sulla distesa del GOLFO DI TADJOURAH.
Sulla strada per il Lago Assal, faremo una pausa fotografica a DIMBIYA, il Grand Canyon di Gibuti: questo è un sito importante perché è il punto di partenza della Grand Rift Valley nel continente. Africano. il viaggio da ARTA al canyon DIMBIYA è (1 ora) Ancora, sulla strada per il lago Assal, faremo una pausa fotografica dal punto di vista panoramico sulla baia di GHOUBET EL KHARAB: questa è un'immensa baia al centro del quale è ghiacciato un grande cratere a forma di collina chiamato Isola del Diavolo. Il GHOUBET EL KHARAB è un'espressione araba che significa abisso del demonio. la guida spiegherà perché a terra. (25 minuti)
arriviamo al lago Assal: è uno dei più laghi del mondo, è il punto più basso dell'Africa e il terzo punto più basso del mondo dopo il Mar Morto e la valle morta. Camminerai sul ghiaccio salato, proverai l'esperienza galleggiante. Quindi vai ad ammirare i nomadi che fanno la carovana del sale che è una pratica culturale e ancestrale delle tribù Afar. Infine, passerai sopra un punto di acque termali dove c'è una peschiera, lascerai che piccoli pesci larvali rosicchino la pelle morta del tuo piede.
Dopo il lago Assal guidiamo per raggiungere la spiaggia della baia di GHOUBET EL KHARAB, per la pausa pranzo. Dopo pranzo esploriamo il paesaggio circostante: i crateri del vulcano e il paesaggio lavico ghiacciato. Assisti alla separazione delle placche tettoniche africane e arabe ed esplora i tunnel di lava congelati. Sali sul cratere del vulcano ARDOUKOBA per una vista mozzafiato delle saline e dell'affascinante Ghoubet El Kharab, noto anche come "l'abisso del demone" e amato da Jacques Cousteau.

It’s really a perfect day tour. My driver Hassan and Guide Ani is super friendly and arrange everything very well. We both visited the Lake Assal, Volcano Ardoukoba, some view points of canyon. After the trip they kindly bring me to the airport on time.

Great day trip while I killed time before embarking on my scuba diving cruise. Sam and Hassan we are knowledgeable, personable, and kind. Lake Assal is amazing. The quantity of salt there is shocking. The natural springs and rock formations were also very intriguing. The lava flow from the most recent eruption covered what seemed like miles. Being able to view three tectonic plates in one place was pretty amazing. We were lucky enough to see a camel caravan and a troop of baboons. On the way back to the hotel, they were kind enough to allow me to stop at a store to purchase some supplies. Highly recommend!
Moussa is a fantastic guide, easy going, funny and knows Djibouti 🇩🇯 as well as anyone. He took us to places i didn't even know existed. Thanks 👍
Djibouti has a lot to offer for some adventure-minded tourists. The saline low-lying Lake Assal day trip combined with Dimbya Canyon is a definite highlight. Though the lake was not covered with salt when i went due to recent rains, the mountain-circled scenery was great. So was the volcanic side with gaps between tectonic plates being visible and signs of hot smoke coming through all being clearly visible. There is enough written about Dimbya Canyon but when you see it, it is spectacular. The trip with a private car was very well organised. My French was not good enough but the agency provided someone who had knowledge and also translated the driver's French. Don't worry too much - the scenery speaks for itself! If you are in Djibiuti - or even as a side trip from Ethiopia - one well-worth doing.
Our driver, Moussa, and guide was absolutely wonderful! He gave us such a great experience touring Djibouti!! He is knowledgeable, personable, and very accommodating!
