That it was an amazing experience .. dress for the weather , I went in September so it was cold but beautiful.. but it was just gorgeous…
Great hike. Long but totally doable. Our guide was an amazing individual with deep experience. The trail does not need a guide on a good day but when the weather gets worse it is good to have someone. Our guide was an experienced hiker and less a guide. My only feedback to the guide is to check up on the group, set the right pace. we were the only two people on the group.
A beautiful hike to do, knowing that it is demanding for people who more or less do some trekking. Our experience with downwind, sunshine and ideal temperature was 6 hours one way, stopping for lunch at the Capri lagoon, or better to go to the beach which is a few meters more. It goes up there; then it is more or less quiet until you reach the campsite and from there it is 2 hours more. The return is about 4 hours that it seems the body does not give you more, but it gives. The adventure is beautiful, a dream fulfilled. It is also totally free, but take a good meal and if the water runs out, you can charge along the way.
Great excursion, highly recommended, however for me it was with very short time, because it was not staying in El Chaltén, but in El Calafate and by road it is a distance of 250 km., situation that reduced us a lot of time in the Fitz Roy, since instead of starting the hike at 7 in the morning, we started it 9:30 approximately.
We were there November 10-14 and enjoyed the weather and arduous trek to Laguna de los tres and although it was frozen it was still an amazing accomplishment for us. Weather was great!
The guide was excellent and very knowledgable showing us the most spectacular views allied with an explanation of the history and geological features we were interested in. Plenty of memories, photos and even bought us hot tea . Overall a fantastic Patagonia experience.
An incredible place although the weather was quite hostile to us. I have to go back because the clouds prevented me from seeing the Fitz.
Victoria was wonderful, intelligent and great at her job! A super tough trail thats not for the faint of heart but a once in a lifetime experience.
The most popular 21km trekking course with a view of Fitzroy. Although it was a long distance, I never got bored because I could walk while looking at Fitzroy the whole time. The last hour and a half is a climb with a difference in elevation of about 400m. It is a scree field and the descent is slippery, so it is better to bring walking sticks. This was my favorite course of the trip. The weather was fine for short sleeves while walking, but there were a lot of insects and I got bitten a lot. It was cold around the lake with strong winds. Make sure to bring plenty of water.
Last stop on my tour in Patagonia, I undertook the walk towards the Los Tres lagoon. Challenging walk, not so much because of the difficulty but because of the length. We calculated about 25 km there and back. It's definitely worth it but you have to evaluate the distance carefully. I recommend booking a taxi that takes you to the Rio Electrico where you can start the route from the less frequented part. The length in km is the same but the difference in altitude is smaller. In my opinion it is also more panoramic (since on the way back you have to go along the other side). All in all spectacular experience
