Visitiamo l'Airborne Museum e, naturalmente, il ponte stesso, passando molti punti importanti in cui si sono svolti gli eventi chiave della battaglia. So important to have a guide with detailed knowledge of Arnhem. Martin certainly did and we had a wonderful day. THANK YOU MARTIN
Our Battle of Arnhem battlefield tour with Martin did not disappoint - as a WWII military history buff, including Operation Market Garden, actually visiting the key sites at Arnhem helped it to all make sense in a way that a book alone cannot. Martin was also able to add a lot of the additional context as well as the many smaller stories that all helped to explain and illustrate so much of the why and how everything (mostly) went so wrong for the Allies. Of note, this tour focuses upon the Arnhem end of the battle but you still get glimpses into aspects of the other landings as well as the land-based operation (I didn't realise that Nijmegen can be seen from Arnhem). The Airborne Museum was exception too. Thanks Martin!
Martin was one of the best tour guides I've had. He was very knowledgeable and was able to communicate his knowledge. He told facts and stories. He not only knew Market Garden but other aspects of World War 2 and the Netherlands. A great day!!
Very knowledgeable and friendly have such a better understanding of how events unfolded during the operation
Excellent experience to understand and feel Operation Market Garden. Tailored to my interests. Delivered in an easy to follow way.
We had originally planned to do this tour without a guide and are so glad we booked this tour. Martin took us to lots of sites that we would have missed and explained the role of each site in the overall operation. His knowledge was extensive. We came away with a much clearer understanding of the overall plan, the choices that were made and the problems encountered. All boxes ticked. I have given it a 4 star rather than a 5 star as the car that we travelled in was, unfortunately, not as clean as it could have been - an easy issue to fix to ensure this doesn't again detract from an excellent tour.
A full day of history, facts and insights. It was personalised to follow a family member who had fought in the operation.
Martin was a pleasant, knowledgeable, and easygoing companion and guide. He tailored his approach to my preference, bringing out points of interest but not cluttering up the experience by insisting on including more than I wished to. HIs through familiarity with the entire Market Garden campaign insured that the sites we visited were explained in context, and he was always willing to engage in additional discussion and to bring up salient points for consideration, but without needless overnarration. In addition, he is a good and careful driver and picked me up right from my hotel! I am very pleased to recommend him highly.
Covers a wide area of the conflict but allows plenty of time to linger at features of particular interest.
Our guide Martin was excellent with extensive knowledge of the battle called “a bridge too far”. Highly recommended that you watch the film or read the book by Ryan before attending. We went places that a normal large tour would be unable to go. It was a great day to see the locations of where the brave men and women fought for the liberation of the Dutch people—sadly unsuccessfully—in 1944. Highly recommend.
