Itinerario
Il tour inizia con la visita del punto più alto dell'isola (567 metri) situato tra Pyrgos e Kamari. Il nome della Montagna, Profitis Ilias (Profeta Elia), deriva dall'omonimo Monastero sulla sua cima. Da questo punto panoramico godrai di una vista suggestiva dell'intera isola, dalle pianure agricole patchwork al villaggio collinare di Oia. Il Monastero fu costruito nel 1712 ed ha sempre avuto un ruolo molto importante per la vita di Santorini nel corso dei secoli soprattutto come attiva influenza intellettuale e patriottica.
Prossima tappa il pittoresco villaggio di Pyrgos, costruito sulla cima di una collina, fino all'inizio del 1800 era la capitale dell'isola. Il paese è composto da case tradizionali costruite intorno al Castello Veneziano e da stradine che seguono la forma della collina. Il villaggio ha molte chiese, circa 33 ed è l'esempio perfetto per ammirare un tipico esempio di architettura cicladica: salendo dalla piazza fino al castello di Pyrgos le case in pietra si affollano più fitte e il labirinto di viuzze a volta diventa più tortuoso. Avrai abbastanza tempo per passeggiare per il villaggio.
Firostefani si trova a nord di Fira, la vista da questa parte di Santorini è spettacolare e offre una prospettiva diversa del vulcano. La Chiesa delle Tre Campane a Fira sull'isola di Santorini è una delle chiese greco-cattoliche più famose, fotogeniche e fotografate dell'isola. È anche chiamata Chiesa dell'Ascensione della Beata Vergine Maria. A metà del XVII secolo c'erano due chiese rupestri sul sito dell'attuale chiesa. Purtroppo furono distrutte a causa del progressivo abbassamento della rupe. Furono sostituiti dalla chiesa costruita nel 1757. Da allora è stata ricostruita più volte. Fu gravemente danneggiato dal terremoto del 1956, ma fu ricostruito. La chiesa si trova in una posizione estremamente pittoresca e la sua cupola e il campanile che si affacciano sulla caldera sono uno degli oggetti più fotografati non solo a Santorini, ma in tutta la Grecia.
Infine, ma non meno importante, la cittadina di Oia, pittoresco villaggio sul confine nord-ovest dell'isola di Santorini costruito lungo il confine settentrionale della Caldera ad un'altezza compresa tra 70 e 100 metri, noto in tutto il mondo per la sua vita tranquilla e i suoi fantastici panorami. Come si vede su un miliardo di cartoline, la caratteristica veduta classica di Oia, è il bianco e blu brillante della chiesa che contrasta con il blu intenso del Mar Egeo sullo sfondo. Oia, è una cittadina bellissima e squisita e un luogo ideale per chi cerca pace e tranquillità. Case, sentieri, chiese edificate abilmente nella parte settentrionale dell'isola.

We wanted to see some of the less explored Santorini on our own and hired a van for 3 hours. Kiriakos, our driver and guide, was extremely friendly and helpful. He suggested we stop by Megalochori, which was not in our plan, and it turned out to be a find. The vehicle, impeccable. There was even fresh water and tissues. Absolutely recommended.
We arranged for a private half day tour through Santorini Golden Key Tours on a recommendation by the concierge at our previous hotel in Naxos. Dimitri picked us up at our hotel in a very comfortable Mercedes sedan and our adventure began. He was most informative, had a great sense of humour and accommodated all our requests. Our private tour of Santorini was absolutely unforgettable! From start to finish, everything was seamless, comfortable, and personalized to our pace and interests. The visit to Profit Hlias, the island’s highest point, was incredible—panoramic views that stretched across all of Santorini. The traditional village of Megalochori was a highlight, with its quiet streets, hidden courtyards, and authentic atmosphere. At Akrotiri, we learn’t about Santorini’s rich history. We then made our way to the island’s unique beaches—the dramatic Red Beach with its striking cliffs, and the Black Beach, where we enjoyed a relaxing walk along the volcanic sand. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about Santorini, sharing stories and insights that made each stop even more special. This tour was the perfect way to experience the beauty, history, and culture of the island in just one day. Highly recommend this personal tour—it was a five-star experience from beginning to end!
Kiriakos was the best tour guide! My mom and I had a wonderful time on the half tour of the island of Santorini. He was very knowledgeable, a great driver, and knew of all the best picture spots. At the last minute we decided to do the 1/2 day Santorini Road Trip- our guide was Kiriakos. He was AMAZING! Started the tour by giving us recommended sights and then asking us what we wanted to see. He was professional, knowledgeable, and gracious. Took us to a medieval village that we otherwise would not have found! We had teenagers and grandparents on the trip and there was something for everyone. Kiriakos showed us that there is much more to Santorini then just the blue domes!
