Se c'è una visita imperdibile mentre sei a Kos, è l'isola vulcanica di Nisyros. La leggenda greca dice che fu creato da una pietra lanciata dal dio Poseidone. Ed è una gemma panoramica di un viaggio di un'ora che ti porta lì. Visita Mandraki, Nikia, il cratere Stefanos e altro ancora.
Una volta attraccato nel porto di Mandraki, la capitale dell'isola, ti dirigerai verso l'antico villaggio di Nikia sul bordo del cratere di Stefanos. Perditi nel labirinto di vicoli acciotolati o trova un punto vicino al bordo del cratere, dove puoi sentire il caldo.
Successivamente, torna a Mandraki. Case a cubetti di zucchero si estendono attraverso questa città a forma di anfiteatro, che si trova all'ombra di un castello medievale e del monastero di Panagia Spiliani sulla scogliera. Ci sarà anche tempo per ammirare le case a balcone della città o cenare in una taverna prima di tornare a Kos.

We kind of suspected it smelled like a tourist trap, but not to this extent! We boarded a boat packed like sardines. Not even a place to sit. Standing for 1 hour and 30 minutes! Arriving on Nisyros, we were herded like cattle. One group went to see the volcano by bus and the other group went to walk around the port village with their guide, who speaks German and English only. So we went off on our own… That said, the village is very pretty. In the early afternoon we left to see the crater. You have to find your bus first, then it's off for 25 minutes on a small road with, as always, explanations in German...! Arriving at the crater, you have to pay €5 to get in! Then you have to hurry to go down there because you only stay for 45 minutes!! Return to the port and here we go again for the boat. It is packed and standing again the whole way!!! In short, frankly having paid €100 for 3 people for this, it's a real rip-off!
Beautiful island,but too many cars everywhere,too many small bykes and motorbykes making so much noise all the day and night ! Seek for hotel far from center if you want to be able to sleep at night,otherwise go to another island,small if possible !Also if you want to cross the street,you must run fast or there is a chance to be hit by a car or motorcycle,they run fast all day !
It is absolutely interesting for the visit of the volcano even if it is not always pleasant (scorching sun, be careful to take sunglasses absolutely, smell of sulphur ...) but it is just amazing to walk on this land and see this desert side!! The visit of the island ok but without more , the boat clean, not always very pleasant at the personal level of the boat , the guides great though. The meal was done at 11am too early and I was quite disappointed because we stopped certainly on a small deserted beach but with as decor facing us quarry, truck, boat for the export of what they dig ... Not very nice to take good time! I actually thought it was a joke ....but no! Then we ignore and I will keep the memory of walking in the crater of a volcano! Book directly in the city and not at the hotel...40% cheaper!!
