A great fishing adventure! Caught a 110 lb ahi tuna, saw dolphins, and enjoyed being on the boat. Crew and captain were knowledgeable and helpful.

Just like any fishing trip, sometimes you come up empty. The team worked so hard to try and make it work. Even though we didn't land any fish, they were able to make it a memorable experience for my boys and were great with the kids. Despite the fishing failure, we did get to see some dolphins!

We had an amazing day! Captain Dean and Clayton were great- friendly, knowledgeable, and persistent when it came to finding the right fishing spot. We caught two marlins!! We also had our 7 and 14 year old who had a great time. They worked with our 14 year old as he caught his marlin. Outside of fishing it was nice to relax and enjoy being on the ocean.

Was unclear about what the excursion offered, didn’t know it was only going to be 5 hrs of trolling back and forth on the coast line , the boat captain and deckhand was great people and would recommend them if that’s what kind of fishing you want , for me it was a waste of 1,000$ dollars

We do our best to explain exactly what Kona sportfishing is all about, but unfortunately we're limited by the descriptions and formatting available on some third-party booking websites. Because of that, we strongly encourage guests to contact us directly before booking if they have any questions about the type of fishing, techniques used, or what to expect on the water. We're genuinely saddened that you spent the money you did and still felt unclear about what the experience would entail. Kona is one of the most unique fisheries in the world. The Big Island is known for big game fishing, trolling offshore for pelagic species such as marlin, ahi, ono, mahi mahi, and spearfish. That's what we have here, and it's what has made Kona famous among anglers worldwide. It's certainly different from fishing in places like Florida, Alaska, or on a lake or river. In Kona, you're not typically casting, jigging, or catching large numbers of smaller fish. Instead, you're pursuing some of the most sought-after gamefish on the planet. There is arguably no better place in the world to catch a trophy fish, a world record, or even a grander marlin on a relatively short charter than Kona, Hawaii. That said, it's still fishing. Some days the fish cooperate, and some days they don't. We hope every guest understands that part of the adventure before they step aboard. We had a great day fishing with Logan and Dean. My husband caught a sail fish and a short nosed spear fish, which is very rare. The weather was perfect and we even had a rainbow out at sea. Logan and Dean were great to work with and their expertise in fishing made the day a wonderful memory for our anniversary trip to Hawaii.

Clayton and Dean were super! Would 1000% book with them again. We are from TN, I got a little seasick on the ocean and they took such good care of me (providing ice cold waters and even brought out a fan)! Reel Escapes made us feel like family. We had a super good time!

Amazing experience!! Highly recommend using this charter. We were lucky to catch a marlin in the first hour despite it being a slower season. Clay and Dean were super helpful.

We had the best time on this trip. My son caught a short nose spear fish in the last hour of our trip. Highly recommend this boat! They are totally there to catch you a fish!

I booked this activity for my husband, son in law and 13 year old grandson, not realizing that my grandson might not be able to pull in a fish due to the amount of fight the fish put up. However, Captain Brent let him sit up with him and kept him entertained and chatting while the other two tried their hand a catching the elusive blue marlin. Afterwards, I asked my grandson how he enjoyed it and he was grinning from ear to ear. The morning outing for this tour hadn't had any luck with the marlins and they didn't hold out a lot of hope for the afternoon outing but would give it a try. A few minutes out of port, my son in law hooked a blue marlin, before the instructions on how to reel it in were completed! Talk about on the job training! Not long after that, my husband also hooked a blue marlin. Captain Brent and the first mate said they didn't remember the last time they had hooked two in one outing. The boat was clean and well maintained and both captain and first mate were knowledgeable and super friendly. I honestly cannot express my appreciation enough as this was a bucket list item for both my husband and son in law. This was the one excursion my son in law specifically asked for and it could not have been a better experience.
