This was an okay experience for us. There was AC, water for everyone and the ride was overall smooth, but it was quite dirty. The seats inside look like really old airplane seats with stains and rips in them. One thing we weren't aware of was that we would have to switch ferries at the end of the trip to get to the main dock. We also had to wait a while for the second boat to pick us up. From start to finish it took us 3 and a half hours. If you want to avoid boat hopping just take a speed boat.
The Aonang princess ferry is a great way to get from Phi Phi Don to Aonang. Lots of seats in the lower decks under cover or you can sunbathe on the top deck if you wish.
The Princess Ferry - Koh Phi Phi Don to Ao Nang: Not all of the information I would usually consider was offered in the description of this trip when I booked it. The ticket is only good for entry into the main and below deck passenger areas. You can smoke by the restrooms on the back of the main deck but all outdoor walkways and open air spaces above the entry deck are off limits with the ticket purchased through TripAdvisor/Viator. If you want access to any outside areas above the entry deck you must pay an additional 200 baht in cash directly to the boat operators for “VIP Access”. I would have preferred to know about this restriction of outdoor areas before I chose this carrier. I don’t smoke but always choose to be outside where possible (and weather permitting) when I’m on a ferry transport so this was a bit of a let-down for me.
Dear 302darleneh Thank you for your feedback on your recent trip with The Princess Ferry. We apologize that the full details regarding access to outdoor areas were not included in the initial description. We understand your disappointment about limited access to the upper decks. We're working on improving our information to clearly state the difference between ticket options. In the future, you may consider ferries offering "open deck" access if enjoying the outdoors is a priority. We appreciate your understanding and hope to see you on board again soon.
Well organised, clean boat, on time, we had a very nicely trip. Would recommend comparing to other ferry we used.

We're always striving to provide the best possible experience for our customers, and your feedback is invaluable. We're particularly happy to hear that you'd recommend us compared to other ferries you've used. If you have any further feedback or suggestions, please don't hesitate to share them with us. We appreciate your business and hope to see you on board again soon!
Seeing the different islands from the ferry, choas as we got nearer to Ao nang, transferred to long tail boats, not enough boats arriving to ferry all the passengers, lots of people waiting including children, & it was becoming dark. On transferring from the long tail boat, we had to climb from the boat to another boat to another boat to eventually get to land, some staff not that friendly
Dear Margaret_A Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on our tour. We're truly sorry to hear about the challenging aspects of your journey, particularly the overcrowding and confusion during transfers. We understand how frustrating and concerning that must have been, especially with children involved. We're constantly working to improve our tours and operations, and your feedback is invaluable in helping us achieve that. We're already looking into ways to streamline our transfer process, including increasing the number of boats available at peak times and reassessing passenger flow. We're also taking your feedback about staff friendliness seriously and offering additional training to ensure all our team members provide a warm and welcoming experience. We hope you had a more positive experience once you reached land and enjoyed the rest of your tour. We value your feedback and appreciate your understanding as we strive to improve.
Air conditioned ferry with somewhat comfortable seats. Staff could have been a bit more friendly, but overall it was a good experience.
Dea Lais_K Thanks for the review. It seems that our staff need a break sometimes, after the peak season with many guests travelling in the Andaman Sea.
We booked this ferry to travel back to Ao Nang following a morning Phi Phi island tour. The service was very convenient for us and made it easy to get from Phi Phi to our hotel in Ao Nang. The ferry itself was in good condition and the staff friendly and helpful. Once we arrived at Ao Nang we were transferred directly to our hotel within around 15 minutes. The journey took around 2.5 - 3 hours which wasn't an issue but keep this in mind if you have any flights booked etc. We've just booked our return ferry from Krabi to Phuket through Ao Nang travel as the service is reliable and great value for money.
Dear Josie403 Thanks for the review, we are more happy to receive a 5 star review for the transfer service.
10/10. Great air conditioning, v comfortable seating, can get in a quick nap easily. It’s like a plane ride. Make sure to go up to the top floor for some amazing uncrowned views when sailing past any rock formations / leaving railay beach!
Dear Patrick_F Thanks for your review. We are happy that you enjoyed the scenic cruise onboard the Ao Nang Princess ferry.
The Ao Nang Princess is one of the nicer ferries, the staff were helpful and our journey from Koh Phi Phi to Ao Nang was fine. HOWEVER the timing of the crossing is advertised incorrectly, which could be disastrous for people needing to catch flights from Krabi Airport. It's advertised as taking 1.5 or 2 hours, but actually takes 2.5 hours. Our tickets said it departed at 15.30 and arrived at 17.00, but in fact it arrived at 18.00. The crossing takes 2.5 hours because the ferry goes via Railay, where it stops out at sea and transfers people onto long tail boats to go to Railay, before continuing to Ao Nang. We had to catch a flight from Krabi to Bangkok followed by a flight from Bangkok to the UK, and were a bit stressed about whether we would get to the airport in time. They really need to correct the advertised timings.
Dear gillw865 Thanks for your review. The given schedule can vary depending on the sea conditions and also the amount of guests. Especially during monsoon season the ferry cannot run the same speed as normal due to current and waves, so that sometimes delays the arrival. For all guests I recommend to let us know if you have an ongoing transfer or flight so we can recommend if enough time or not.
Sitting on the top deck listening to music and watching the sunset over Railay Beach. Strip that I would do again.
