It was very easy to find the pickup point, and it was conveniently located. I think we would’ve enjoyed it more if we had gone into it with different expectations. We were expecting a historical tour of Kilkenny from the river instead of the typical walking tour, but instead we got a 40ish minute monologue from our tour operator. Don’t get me wrong, it was funny, but not what I thought we had paid for. All that said, if you want a leisurely look at the river with only passing mentions of what each significant building is, then this is the tour for you.
Clifford Reid gave us an excellent overview of Kilkenny’s history. He’s a natural storyteller, and his tips on how to best spend our time there were spot on.
We really enjoyed our boat trip along the Nore in Kilkenny. Anne-Marie was knowledgeable of history and wildlife, (we saw herons and kingfisher), with a great sense of humour. We would thoroughly recommend an afternoon on the Restless Otter. It was brilliant 🤩 Thank You! Gerry and Sally Chandler, Stoney Stratton, Nr. Glastonbury, Somerset, UK.
Not a particularly long boat trip in Kilkenny. We travelled up the river until we reached a stone bridge, then turned around. We were hoping to get some photos from underneath. Turning around after about 15 minutes seemed to make the trip shorter than it should have been. Then we rode by the castle, and the tour provided us with a great opportunity for pictures. Last tour of the day, so perhaps the guide was tired, but we didn't get a whole lot of information about Kilkenny or history. It also could have been that we were on the tour with am overly chatty gentleman from Cork who dominated the conversation. Overall, I think we expected a little more.
This trip was at 11 on the 12th of August which was this morning it was a fabulous start to our day.Our tour guide Elder from Portugal he was brilliant very knowledgeable we learnt alot from him and such a gentleman and we got a good few lovely pics tanx Kilkenny Eileen and Simon
It was a pleasant easy boat ride in a pretty setting with an informative host. But we only had a half day in KILKENNY and skipped doing other exploring so we could do this. The trade off is probably not worth the time spent instead of visiting more ancient historical locations.
Great experience that i would highly recommend. The guide was very knowledgeable and engaging.
This is little gem of a trip , quick in the good way in that half your day isn't used up but you still get plenty of local knowledge coupled with great story telling done with the perfect amount of history and humor, Cliff was the perfect captain and great guide . We were a family group of 7 adults and all had a good time. Thanks again Cliff from the Cullens from Swords Co Dublin.
Very knowledgeable guide, shared a lot of historical information about Kilkenny castle, the river. St Canice’s cathedral and St Mary’s cathedral and also the Black abbey. Kept you engaged from start to finish
A very leisurely boat ride up the River Nore. Amusing and historic commentary by our guide who even made time time to take photos of groups featuring the castle in the background. This is more for those who enjoy some relaxation in the middle of a busy day. Life jackets are provided. I would recommend.
